    EXOTIC BED

I slept on a balloon tonight

One bed too few, an unusual sight

    Company’s come to my delight

So, I slept on a balloon tonight

I was hostess in years gone past

    Now my children prepare repast

They welcome me as their guest

My retirement years now my quest

Grandchildren live all over the nation

    Expanding family’s firm foundation

    Unaware that their recreation

    Increases elder’s anticipation

So, I slept on a balloon tonight

Call it air mattress to lessen strife

    Little feet came without invite

    To share my balloon tonight.

    AN EFFORT DURING MATH CLASS

To stay awake I’ll write a verse

I need to rest - this can’t get worse

This dreary class drags on and on

Please, give a break - to home be gone!

    Slowly, steadily falling asleep

Bring me caffeine before I weep

    Droning, pausing, teacher’s a bore

Should be considered against the law.

I need math credit for my degree

But, Oh Lord, how boring is he

    Someone sneezes for relief

At least that’s different, is my belief

We read the text same as he

Teaching is naught for you and me

His Army experience is quite a reach

‘Cause they didn’t instruct him how to teach

    Compounds, conditionals, consequent

Pronounce them wrong, they come out bent

I’ve paid my tuition so I can earn

My Bachelor’s Degree for which I yearn.

    CORVETTE

Can you believe I bought a Corvette?

Think my wife will be upset?

Bright, golden yellow, like a jet!

You bet, you bet, you bet, you bet!
