To the memory of my mother, Iomia Harmon-Lloyd (1923–1957); my father, Tealang Lloyd Sr. (1923–2002); my brother, Tealang Lloyd Jr. (1944–2009); and my stepmother, Elmer Seabrough-Lloyd (1939–2014). These people had a positive impact on my life and will forever be loved and missed. They were a blessing to our whole family!
In honor of former teachers of Emanuel County Elementary and High School (The Rattlers): Mr. Dessie E. Davis, Mrs. Nellie Zackary-Davis, Mrs. Dorothy Lawrence, Mrs. Bessie Doyle, and Mrs. E.K. Miller. They are just some of the teachers who played a part in making me the person that I am today. I love you all!

Preface
My interest in writing poems started when I began writing welcomes for different church occasions. It was during that time that I discovered a talent and love for writing poems.
In this publication, poems included are for different occasions, all seasons, and for many reasons: inspirational, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, memorial poems and readings, Christmas, welcomes, pastoral, children, dedications, blessings, family tributes, and senior citizens.
Inspired by my surroundings, which included family, friends, students, and acquaintances, writing hasn’t always been an interest. However, reading was. For me, reading was a means of discovering what others thought and felt.
I contribute my success in writing to a higher source. Pursuing a college degree at the age of forty-four, twenty-seven years after having graduated from high school, I met with one obstacle that was very challenging: writing an essay. I had forgotten the major components of an essay and how to connect each component to make the essay flow nicely. After a refresher course, I was still a bit unsure about my writing, but most of all, I could not come up with enough to write in order to complete a two-page paper or essay, which was usually the requirement. How did I overcome this obstacle? I’m glad you asked! The answer is prayer, the Holy Spirit. Whenever
