About this ebook

What Will You Do Mom? captures periods of my life during which I gained new understanding about the making of a thriving home. I am driven to share this insight by the rapid deterioration of societies that can be seen everywhere. What Will You Do Mom? is an appeal for parents of today, mothers in particular, to abandon this path were on and reclaim our society and ultimately our nation. We need to be concerned about the kind of society that we will leave for our children and grandchildren, and do all that we could to come as close as possible to fixing it. We cannot afford to leave our society worse than we met it. As members of society are products of our homes, it follows that in order to repair the society, we must repair the home. This book What Will You Do Mom? outlines a number of steps, principles, and guidelines that, if adopted, will assist in getting us back on track with a view to an improved society. It is anticipated that readers will derive remarkable benefits from the experiences that I share, as I did. I believe that having successfully raised three children, two sons and a daughter, and having observed the behavior of boys and girls, young men and young women from sample homes that make up society, I am able to make a compelling contribution and invaluable recommendations. This book demonstrates the necessity for men and women to operate in their prescribed roles for homes to function properly. This book is simply written to accommodate a wide range of readersin fact, everyone.

I dedicate this book to my two year old grandson Nolan Damallie whom I expect to be among the group of men viewed as model husbands and fathers of his era. I pray that by God’s grace and power he will influence his peers to accept their mandate of ensuring that their children are not just positive contributors to society, but also nation builders.

Today’s world places considerable emphasis on acquiring assets and amassing wealth; therefore, young men are evidently seeing this as the ultimate achievement rather than successful nation building.

The accumulation of wealth is indeed significant and essential; therefore, we must assist our young men and women to understand how wealth correlates with nation building.

I anticipate a paradigm transformation in this current generation resulting in young people embracing a new culture where the family is held in highest regard; and I envision that Nolan’s generation will meet this prevailing mindset in operation.

This book is in honor of my father Wilton Sylvester Carter

    (1926 – 2004)

He was a firm believer in acquiring assets from one’s savings versus securing loans from banks. He ensured that I understood the dangers and disadvantages of borrowing from financial institutions and he led by example by saving for his home and other assets.

This book is also in honor of my beloved mother Maria Lily Carter

    (1935 – 1996)

I give thanks to the Almighty for granting Maria 61 years of a life of blessing to her family and all she met along her life’s journey.

She was a woman and servant of God at the core of her being. This was her soul’s desire. She lived 1 Corinthians 13: 1 - 7 and loved every human being who came across her path, unconditionally.

She truly fulfilled her calling as a wife, mother, grandmother and educator, oftentimes sacrificially; indeed she was a virtuous woman.

Lastly, this book is in honor of my childhood neighbor and adopted grandmother

    Cecelia Isabel Duncanson (1920 – 2004)

She was instrumental in assisting my mother in raising my siblings and me; my mom truly believed that she would not have made it without her.

Truly, she knew what it meant to love unconditionally and taught me to always
