My name is Kyle Richardson. I am a young author at the age of 13. I was always fascinated by the theory of time travel and three years ago, over a dream I had, I had this great idea for a book. When I first started writing I thought it was cheesy but after some encouragement from friends and family I kept going and I am proud to share the story with you. I hope you enjoy it.

The Secrets to Time Travel
In the year 2105 David Monsley, age 25, one of the youngest people ever to get a job at NASA and a proud scientist, discovered the first simulation of time travel. Even though everybody thought he was crazy, he kept going. By the year 2107 he made his first prototype. I still wonder what happened to it. He spent ten years so obsessed with his theory that he lost his job. But he still got funding from Mehow Mitchell, the only person who actually believed him. But on that fateful day on June 14, 2117 our lives changed. I was 32 at the time, as well as my friend Nat who was the same age. Together we were the three youngest people in the NASA staff.
I was sitting in my office drinking a soda and listening to my good friend Nat complaining about how much I screwed up my computer. My office was a small place with light blue paint on the wall, and a painted white solid steel desk. Not to mention the one foot by six inches flat screen holographic computer. It was peaceful, until the door to my office slammed open making me jump, and almost making me spill my soda all over my lap.
I’ve got it Luke,
David said, I’ve finally got it.
David had light blond hair and turquoise eyes that said I’m smart and I know it. Which makes me wonder why he lost his job?
And what exactly did you get?
I asked sarcastically.
The final component I need to make time travel possible!
Haven’t you given up on that already?
No, and weren’t you the one who always said to never give up?
After a brief second of looking off into space, pretending to think, I finally said, I thought that was Nat.
No, it was you!
Nat said as he rolled out from underneath my desk and shook his dark hair from his eyes.
I totally forgot he was working on my computer.
Ok I admit it,
I said, but he has been obsessed with time travel for almost twelve years now.
Forgive him,
Nat said to David. Proceed.
A Particaller,
David said with full confidence.
And why do you think the one thing that made teleportation work will help you?
I asked.
Because it’s easier to send molecules forward in time than it is to send a whole object forward,
He said.
The next thing I saw was this huge blueprint slammed down in front of me. It was pretty good. The Particaller tore the molecules apart while the Time Warper
(what David calls it) shoots them forward through time.
Why only forward?
I asked.
Well,
he said, the molecules are being held in a containment field for blank amount of time to the preset date, when the molecules are reformed.
Cool.
Nat said.
So are you with me?
David asked.
I’ll give it a shot,
Nat said, What about you Luke?
Ok I’m in,
I said.
Yes!,
David said.
But,
I exclaimed, if I get fired I’m blaming you.
That made everybody laugh, and was the last time we laughed in four long years. During those years it was work, work, and more work so we could get the prototype finished. Some days we just sat around waiting for our next paycheck or donation to get in so we could buy the parts we needed. It was boring and quite entertaining, both. Mostly because it was the first thing I had to do since I took this job at NASA. Then the day came to test the final prototype, or that was what David said.
Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go,
David said impatiently.
A week earlier we had received a call from Mehow. He said he was tired of waiting and wanted the prototype done in a week. Those few words got everybody on the frits.
He said that he was coming today, right?
Nat asked.
Yes.
David answered.
I was underneath the machine when Nat asked. Just like him, always asking questions he knows the answer to.
The machine was huge. It looked like a ten foot tall cylinder. I was just tightening the last bolt when the door bell rang.
I got it,
Nat shouted as he ran to the door on the upper level.
Come on Luke, time to go,
David said as he hit the machine.
I sure hope it works,
I said as I rolled out from underneath it.
We walked up to meet our guests. It was kind of funny because we had never met Mehow before, so we didn’t know what to expect. When we got there, though, it was a shock. There were about a dozen people, with Mehow in the middle. He was tall and muscular. He looked a lot like Michel Phelps, but with blondish-brown hair.
Nice to finally meet you,
Mehow said with a deep voice.
You too sir,
we said.
So, which one of you is David?
He asked.
I am,
Nat said.
Oh shut up!
I yelled at him.
Forgive them,
David said calmly. "my name is David Monsley. I was the one who invented the time machine. These are my two
