ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
To my husband, my priest, and the love of my life, Minister Vantrel Mainor, to my family (especially my parents), my friends, and my sisters and brothers in Christ, I love you!
(And, to Ms. Cohen, my seventh grade social studies teacher who signed my middle school yearbook, dedicate your first book to me.
Thank you for seeing in me, at a tender age, what I had not yet seen in myself.)
INTRODUCTION
The Deliverer Is God!!!
Sometimes we feel like we are between a rock and a hard place being held by guards on both sides with chains double binding our arms and legs, locked inside and guards watching outside. We feel imprisoned. I don’t know what your prison is; I don’t know what the prison is for your loved ones; all I know is that we feel that the prison exists. And during these difficult times the Lord will send someone across our paths to encourage us in His Word. Still, we feel so defeated and so bound that while God’s messenger is encouraging us, we are busy thinking What’s the point anyway.
Or, if we actually allow ourselves to listen to the encouragement being spoken, we are left saying to ourselves, I want to believe, but I feel so trapped.
Well, when and if you feel this way, the DELIVERER desires to deliver you—it’s true! Nothing can prevail against the Lord. Nothing can prevail against Him! The Spirit of the Lord has the power to break all strongholds and the anointing will destroy all yokes. Jesus said, On this rock (who is Jesus and through mankind) I will build the church and gates of hell will not prevail against it.
Often Satan has strongholds on our lives that we invite in through our sin and other times that result from other circumstances, situations, and reasons beyond ourselves. The enemy, then, gains access to us because we are down, because we are tired, because we have seen a loved one struggle with an illness or we have been struggling with an illness, and it doesn’t seem like the Lord is answering. All it all equates to is a stronghold! But, the Lord says, the gates of hell will NOT prevail against you
because you are the church!
Come together with me in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ! In Him there is power. In Christ there is an endless supply of power that is more powerful than any power the enemy possesses! We must have faith in this truth and remain in remembrance of it at all times. God wants us to experience His power and He wants us to allow Him to display His power in our lives. God is not a punk, He is not weak, and He is not timid—He is a warrior! He has come to break the strongholds and all that has you bound! Regardless of the method He decides to utilize, He will DELIVER YOU!
We must be aggressive in our faith. For those of you who are saying, Where is my God?
and sometimes feel like God has forsaken you, I am here to tell you, THAT IS NOT TRUE—it is a lie! Don’t believe the voice that says there is no God or that if there is a God, that He doesn’t love you, because it is a lie from the pit of hell. Our God is glorious, kind, merciful, and unconditionally loving; He takes us, accepts and loves of where we are and, then, He loves us into the image that He created us to be. Ask the Lord to deliver you from everything that is holding you! People of God, be aggressive in your faith and focus in your heart as you read this book. We say we love Jesus and that we believe He is absolutely in love with us, so let us approach Him with knowledge of this love, in confidence, and complete trust in Him and give to Him all the problems and things that have us bound. Surrender all to Jesus as you read and before you are finish with this book, the STRONGHOLD, THE YOKE, WILL COME DOWN!
CHAPTER ONE
And I Came To Myself
My back is up against the wall. If it’s not one thing, it is another. Hopelessness. Despair. Frustration. Thoughts of giving up—simply throwing in the towel. But, my foundation in Christ wouldn’t let me quit. Still, my human nature prevailed as I wallowed in frustrations, dragging around from day to day from emotional, spiritual, mental, and financial sty to sty—pig sties. Discontent with my situation and circumstance but unwise as to how to change it. Thus, I was trapped in a trance of discontentment and in a rut—paralyzed from performing effectively any action that would alter my current state. Was I Complacent? No. Was I at a loss for words and wisdom? Yes. I knew I needed help. I knew that there was no way that I could escape without assistance. Yes, I needed God’s help, His saving grace. I needed God to rescue me. Rescue! See, my thinking was if God (you probably have never heard this one) would just get me out of this one, this time, I would never get caught up in this again. For
