Thank you for your prayers and encouragement.
A Letter to a Friend
Dear friend,
It is a pleasure to share with you the joy of finding true love. I have discovered the secret, my friend! It is when you know the love of God that you are able to love yourself; then you will be able to love others. There is no way one is able to love someone else when they do not love themselves. One example of failure to love oneself is when a person abuses themselves by doing things that reduce them from being who they are. The failure to respect and love oneself is caused by not knowing who you are and whose you are. Jesus told us in Matthew 22:37 to love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind. He told us that this was the first and greatest commandment. In verse 39 He said, Love your neighbor as yourself.
Note that the second commandment only comes after falling in love with the Lord; then you will be able to love yourself and then others. There is no way you can abuse the one you love. First, love the Lord your God because He is the only One who can teach you how to love yourself, and then you will be able to reach out to others. Remember, you can only give what you have. Only a heart with the love of God is able to love even the unlovable. How can you hate a fellow brother or sister when you are in love with Jesus? How can you steal from your neighbor when you have the love of God in you? Jesus said in verse 40, All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.
That means when you keep the first commandment, all the other commandments will be easy to follow. That’s the key, my friend, to fall in love with Jesus first, and He will teach you the hidden secret of love. He will teach you how to forgive—not only forgiveness of others but forgiveness of yourself as well. Forgiving yourself gives you permission to love yourself and move forward. The beauty of it all is Jesus displayed the power of forgiveness on the hill of Calvary. I have good news, my friend. You can tell Jesus anything you want without shame—all your feelings, your weaknesses, and your fears. Jesus will teach you how to be patient and kind. He will teach you how to reach out to others. Do not be afraid to give Him your heart. He will lead you to a place where still waters lie.
My Love for Life
Hold me, my Love, and walk with me,
lead me to a place where still waters lie.
Speak to my heart and calm me down,
let me melt in peace everlasting,
as Your sweet voice soothes my soul.
When I feel Your arms around me,
I
