    FOREWORD

W ho is God? Does He exist? Is He single? Are there many Gods? Can man reach God? Is immortality attainable? Are the Scriptures lying? Are the Religions telling the Truth? Can man know the Truth by his own efforts?

The answers to such questions would surely be nectar to the thirsty soul which wanders in the quest of God-realization. In the present world situation which is confusing the unreal with the real, such a quest is undoubtedly deemed as a self-deceiving hobby where the soul, as presumed, is trying to find something in nothing. And for the soul which is guided by some inconceivable conviction to seek to attain God-realization, this quest is becoming the more harder—like finding a tiny needle in a haystack that is getting bigger by the minute.

Today the world has too much to choose from. There is a never ending flow of ideas and views obviously about Truth and Godhead, all readily and impartially available to all. Technology has created a melting pot of unobstructed thoughts, trying supposedly to bring out one single view that could be accepted by all. Creating a thesis based on a synthesis which was probably the result of some other thesis and its antithesis, could really help to improve one’s philosophical or scriptural knowledge base. But what does it have to do with God-realization? Does one’s great philosophical or scriptural knowledge base enhance one’s ability to realize God? Then what about the unprivileged?

Philosophy, with mind as its primary source, gradually leads to self-realization, which is an imposter of God-realization. Religion, with scripture as its primary source, leads to a traditionally prescribed deity, which is a generic version of God-realization. This truth is reflected in the author’s own words: ‘You don’t imagine a God; you don’t join a religion for God. You ought to experience God.’ This unique experience is the true God-realization. And the greatest blessing is that this unique experience is freely available to each and every single person, without partiality.

For the God-seeker, the scripture is supposed to provide the guidelines. But today with so many versions and so many explanatory commentaries, all differing to agree in any given passage, the seeker is apt to be led away from his intended direction. For the God-seeker, religion is supposed to provide the means of support. But today the seeker is being demanded to provide support for religion. As an addition, the hypocritical behavior of many so-called wise men and leaders, has led the common man to lose hope in God. But this book renews this hope of God’s existence; setting God apart from all religions and human thoughts, but setting Him close even to the simplest of hearts, always freely and readily available.

Many deep meditations are brought out as simple stories easily understandable, taking the reader to the beginning of time, taking the soul to its source, revealing the secrets of God-head, answering every question that could creep up into the mind of the seeker, erasing the doubts and steadying the quivering faith, leading to the path of enlightenment, as the breaking of dawn in the night of man’s self-created darkness, giving glimpses of the future where God-realized souls, embracing non-violence will live united in God without death.

Man in his imaginations has pushed God to unattainable heights and with his self-will is trying to reach the unreachable. But what if God Himself comes to man as a man? Will man be able to realize Him as God? Let us see…

    JAIPUR ADDRESS ONE

    March 24, 1986

T oday I would like to relate some of the incidents in my life from 1960 (of my travels) all over the world. When I realized God, I went to the United States and to other countries to find out what the people of God would be like. I was in England and there is a place called Hyde Park. There we are allowed to preach. So as I was preaching there, my wife was there, and at that time a dark skinned brother was preaching. And two English people were beating him. He was preaching but these two were beating him and blood was coming from his mouth. And more and more they were beating and they were attacking the eyes also. So I was just wondering and I asked him, ‘You are like a heavy elephant, why do you allow these two white people to beat you like this?’ He said, ‘I am obeying what the Lord Jesus wanted me to do, show the right cheek if anybody beats you. I turn the other cheek so I am doing His commandments.’

At that time, the way they were beating him, as a human being I felt compassion for this black man, so I asked this black man, ‘Why don’t you beat them?’ He said, ‘Then I will lose the blessings of God.’ I could not understand; I could not understand a teaching that would make one man beat another man and say that Jesus said that. I was a young man so I took my hands and beat the two fellows and put a blow on each face. And the two white men said, ‘Why are you beating us?’ ‘Because you are beating that black man mercilessly I am beating you.’ Then he said, ‘He is showing the cheek and we are beating him.’ So I said, ‘I beat you, you show your cheek to me.’ Then they said, ‘The white man never shows his cheek to any others.’ The black man heard what they said and then he said, ‘You are not obeying Christ?’ He got a revelation, he went and beat those two fellows and they had to run for their lives. Then he embraced me and said, ‘You opened my understanding.’ Then I went away. At that time the black people were treated very badly in 1960 in London.

Seven years afterward I went to the same street, one black lady was attacking a white man. I said, ‘Sister you should not attack like that.’ Then she said, ‘Seven years ago an Indian came, he opened our understanding and we follow him. And from that year all the colored people became bold and fought for their independence.’ Still I could not understand this. I went to America. There was a group of Christian missionaries praying; I also went and sat there. And they were telephoning to Kennedy. At that time they wanted to attack and conquer Haiti Island. So they were telephoning Kennedy, ‘Shall we go? The missionaries go earlier before the army comes.’ I said, ‘Why do the missionaries have to go before the army goes behind?’ ‘We will say, show the other cheek, then the people will not attack us. Then the army can go and attack.’ Then I knew that in India they were preaching Christianity with a motive to make us enslaved.

But actually Christ did not mean that. He said, ‘If anybody beats you on the cheek then you will show your cheek.’ But really the meaning is, ‘You must be strong in mind and body so that nobody will beat you first.’ Now we have Ahimsa Dharma. Ahimsa is not to be defeated, Ahimsa will always win. Why did we lose Ahimsa? Because we do not fight Ahimsa with God. Here you can see Shree Krishna, as the charioteer, said, ‘I will kill the people; you just go.’ So, the attacker is not us, it is God. I don’t believe in Ahimsa where you become a slave of another country, but I believe in Ahimsa which will bring equality. Today in our country we are so much divided. We are divided by community, we are divided by state, just division and division and we try to bring a unity just like clay and iron
