    INTRODUCTION

K EYS TO BECOMING A DIVINE WARRIOR will aid you in becoming like a ship, a ship remaining constantly on course, meeting the storms of life bravely and fearlessly. It provides concepts for eliminating anger and anxiety. It is evident by our daily News Reports that there is an urgent need for a radical change in human thought. In order for humanity to survive, people must transform their thinking, and improve their sense of compassion. It is necessary for everyone to embrace, the fact; violence and anger only provides fuel for more of the same. I believe everyone’s destiny lies entirely in his or her own hands. If we suffer, it is because we allow ourselves to suffer by not monitoring our thoughts. It is a fact; a mind filled with ignorance cannot withstand analysis.

The challenge for me during the writing of KEYS TO BECOMING A DIVINE WARRIOR was the terminal illness and subsequent death of my husband of twenty-five years. After researching the challenge at hand, it became apparent that by building and strengthening my inner-self and improving my ability to concentrate. I could learn to handle any crises that came my way. I began researching material that would help me solve problems constructively. The results of my research provided me with the material for this book. The book shares with you the concepts I uncovered during those challenging years. I became aware everything I did to improve my mind by way of conscious effort, in partnership with the energizing power of God helped me to flourish and prosper. I learned I was here on this planet to enable the divine purpose of the universe to unfold. I found the more I kept my mind on the present moment the stronger and more empowered I became.

KEYS TO BECOMING A DIVINE WARRIOR assists the reader to understand superior thoughts lead to superior actions and better results. It makes it clear; every life is a life worth living no matter how downtrodden it might appear. The best part is you can free yourself from disapproval by monitoring the negative stuff your ego puts out daily. You can choose to simply smile at it, be amused and let it go. When I am aware my mind is making downbeat comments, about the past or the future, I say to it mentally, I am not interested in hearing any disheartening remarks from you concerning my past or my future. I do not buy into your pessimism. You can dissolve demoralizing mental images with a comment like the following: I do not accept cynicism so stop it this moment. When you do this, you become free from delusion and feelings of helplessness. It is my hearts desire you will benefit from Keys to Becoming a Divine Warrior because I wrote it for you in mind. I am working on a full-length novel that will come out at the end of this year called The Atlantic Crossing. It is a historical fiction novel. I wish you genuine happiness and peace of mind. We all carry a burden in life; how we carry, our burden is what makes the difference.

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

K EYS TO BECOMING a Divine Warrior is dedicated to my husband, Henry Evarts, who provided me with the tools and the time necessary for writing this book. I appreciate his support and all the things he did to make this book a reality. I thank my teachers and the staff at California Lutheran College for their introduction to the importance of living a spiritual life. I would not be who I am without the seeds they have sown in my life. I thank Virginia Mattson for her help in editing the manuscript. This poem was written for my husband, Henry Evarts:

Through the years I will cycle

    with you through bright, silvery,

    glistening sunrises.

I will ride with you through

    cool deep-green forests.

I will walk with you on shores

    of pristine white sand.

When our life on earth is through,

    our souls will remain forever,

    dancing, singing spirits of love.

    CHAPTER ONE

    The Divine Nature

    TIME

Time has a way of passing quickly by,

therefore begin your journey toward a

sacred and enlightened way of life

    early in your experience.

Time is limited so practice compassion,

love, and generosity daily with a kind,

loving heart to accomplish great deeds.

    Time passes rapidly, therefore begin

now to live a life of self-sacrifice and

compassion in order to grasp the

    meaning of your eternal existence.

E VERY HUMAN BEING wants to have some understanding of the higher power called God. Literally, hundreds of different words designate the name for God. The creator takes on different faces and forms worldwide. Numerous people take on their perception of God as explained to them by their parents, their priests, their loved ones, or their clergy. Many people in our society wish to know God better. Throughout history, a few astute, wise, and informed people of good intelligence have spent their entire lives learning as much as possible about the nature of their creator, becoming authentic divine warriors. Divine warriors embrace the fact that our creator has made the heavens and the earth by his word and outstretched arms. They know that nothing is too hard for their creator. They know that he delights in those who fear him and those who put their hope in his unfailing love.

In today’s world, there are divine warriors working tirelessly to instill basic, simple, and straightforward spiritual truths to people worldwide. Divine warriors help to spread the divinity that is the basis of man’s spiritual authenticity. Spiritual consciousness lies in every person to a lesser or greater degree. The right temporal lobe of the brain is the area in which every person is capable of connecting or interfacing with their creator. When you pray and have contact with your creator, you are able to access and use the right temporal area of your brain more fully.

Divine warriors we have known in the past, just to mention a few, are as follows: Mother Teresa, Martin Luther, St. Francis of Assisi, Paul of Tarsus, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Buddha, and Confucius. Jesus Christ is the one that was foretold in the Old Testament. He had the power to heal the sick, allow you forgiveness of your sins, and grant you salvation in the life to come. The other religions do help you to live better moral lives, but they do not lead you to the Divine. They do not provide you with salvation. They do not provide you with forgiveness for your sins. They do not allow your sins to be covered by the blood. Literally thousands of spiritual giants have shared their experiences over the years by way of their writing, their actions, and their deeds. These people were transformed into amazing human beings through their consistent effort. The significant point is how their spiritual efforts affected their lives and the lives of those who came in contact with them. Decidedly well-honed, spirit-filled people demonstrate unique and varied ways of expressing their spirituality. Their efforts have greatly benefited humankind through the ages. They leave behind a legacy for generations of believers by way of their own distinct, unique, and individual patterns of expression.

    A GLIMPSE OF HIS GREATNESS

God is the one hidden in all beings, watching over all worlds, the witness the perceiver. From these astute observations, you can see how impossible it is to comprehend the enormity and depth of the creator’s powerful energy. Creation demands a creator. Your creator’s unsurpassed power is shown everywhere—the birth of a baby, the flight of a bird, the fish in the ocean, and the stars in heaven. Scientists believe energy alone is not responsible for the intricate way the universe is maintained. Scientists know energy would dissipate. Only an eternal being would not lose energy. Mass energy simply would wear out. With practice and many heartrending petitions, you can have the privilege of perceiving a glimpse of his infinite energy by simply looking at nature. Even the smallest understanding of the creator’s awesome power will be rewarding to you. Psalm 19:1 (KJV) explains, The heavens declares the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.

    PSALMIST TELLS OF GUIDANCE

The more you seek your creator, the more he will reveal himself to you. When you seek your creator, he will open your mind to understanding his ways. If you seek help and guidance, he will guide and direct you. Your creator will draw you near to him when you are faithful. He does not invade your privacy. The divine mind does not reveal its wisdom and guidance without your consistent and deep-felt expressions of love. Reach out and extend a hand toward the divine, and as a result of this simple act of faith, he will take your hand and walk with you through the stage show called life. Scripture tells you in Psalm 18: 2-3 (KJV) The Lord is my fortress and my deliverer; my God my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies.

    THE WEAVER

My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me; I cannot choose the colors for He works sorrow, and I in foolish pride see only the upper and him the underside.

Not until the loom is silent and the shuttle ceases to fly, shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why; the dark threads are as needful as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern planned.

    Unknown

King David said in Psalm 100:1-4 (KJV), Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

    GOD GIVES EVERYONE GIFTS

God is the doorway that no man can close. God is the light that comes to every person that lives on the earth. Everyone in our world is a part of God. Every strand and fiber of your DNA creates in you a unique human being. Your DNA makes you related to your creator, starting from the moment of conception. Each cell in your body has a unique system of energy determining its size, shape, and general condition. He instills talents and gifts in you by way of your DNA code. Your DNA has an intricate system of checks and balances. It is continually self-correcting. The information in DNA is vast. The knowledge stored in DNA would fill hundreds of books. If stacked up, these books would be higher than you could see with the naked eye.

Each cell in your body is capable of recording harmony or disharmony caused by how you react to your daily experiences. Disharmony, commonly known as stress or anxiety, comes from your perceptions. Human beings are capable of training their minds to perceive the perfect and the good in all circumstances, in all situations, and in all experiences. When you look for the good that comes from your everyday challenges, you will become better able to cope with each new situation as they appear on your horizon.

YOU WERE MADE TO LAST FOREVER

Our physical body’s are like a tent. Tents last for as long as they are kept in good condition. The frame of a tent gets weak and breaks easily; the covering of a tent is like human skin. Skin breaks down with age. Scripture tells us basically that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven—God-made, not handmade—and we’ll never have to relocate our ‘tents’ again. Frequently, we can hardly wait to move on—and so we cry out in frustration. Compared to what’s coming, living conditions on earth seem like a stopover a sort of shack, and we’re tired of it! The spirit of God whets the appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead. He puts a little of the heavenly life in our hearts so that we’ll never settle for less.

    NEGATIVE EMOTIONS

Scientists have concluded that your emotions affect the physical tissues of your flesh and bones. Negative thoughts can damage a person’s natural healing ability—whether coming from someone else or emanating from yourself. We may not be able to prevent a thoughtless, offhanded comment from someone, but we have the power to control and direct our thoughts to remain positive. Physicians and researchers find negative thinking affects specific organs more frequently. It is important when you are evaluating your sense of suffering to consider the following: Is your suffering caused more by anxiety or guilt? Are these negative feelings limiting your lifestyle? Are these negative feelings affecting your cells’ ability to function effectively within your physical body? Are your negative feelings toward someone else worth the damage they do to your state of well-being, in general, or to your psychological and spiritual health?

Identify repetitive negative thoughts as signs of neurotic and fear-ridden behavior. Discharge anxious thoughts promptly and swiftly from your thinking. Take charge of what you allow your mind to rest upon. Do not let your mind run amok and out of control. Scripture tells us repetitively to have faith and not to be fearful. Jesus said Fear not many times in many different situations. It is said that the words Fear not are used approximately 375 times in the Bible. Jesus was keenly aware of how detrimental fear was to man’s spiritual and physical well-being. Descartes, the great philosopher, gave his life to the following principle: I think therefore I am. What you say to yourself is critical to your health and well-being. Take responsibility for giving yourself what you truly need—kind and loving self-talk.

    EMBRACE CALMNESS

Your mind is like the battery of a car, which has both negative and positive poles. The positive poles attract good to your life; the negative poles attract damaging experiences. Life comes to you as you believe it should come. The operative words are as you believe. The statement as you believe is a simple one and yet so very important to everything you may hope to accomplish or achieve. Overcoming obstacles and living in the present along with simplicity and calmness will help you to implement a better life. Simplicity is the sign of deep thinking. Simplicity is the sign of a thoroughly thought-out system of values that only your creator is capable of providing. Medicine assists in healing, but it is only the body that heals.

God is the eternal power behind a waterfall, a sunrise, or a sunset. He is the power that provides light energy that makes things work. His power brings light to your home, and more importantly, it brings you intellectual growth. As you tap into your creator’s energy by prayer and meditation, his light allows you to tap into the vast storehouse of energy that provides direction. You are in some way like a toaster or a washing machine. You cannot work without energy. You are nothing without the life force that He grants you daily. God is the energy behind all that lives and moves in the world. When a person dies, a person’s spirit does not die; their soul goes on forever because your soul is immortal. You simply shed the shell called the physical body when you pass through the veil to the other side.

    WHEN SOMEONE DIES?

When someone dies, pray for God’s presence to fill the vacuum. Pray that your pain will soften by way of constructive goals, and appropriate new friends. Pray for their soul. Thank your creator for giving you the opportunity to have one of his special souls to love and cherish. Accept his will, and march forward. He, like any good father, is waiting to express goodness and abundance to his children. If you know there is a God and there is a heaven, how can you be unhappy when someone returns home? Avoid letting self-pity keep you in extended mourning. Mourning that causes you to question your faith is unhealthy. The Buddha proved no one’s life is untouched by death. A woman came to him with a dead child in her arms, begging him to give the child life again. He said to her, Go to every house and find someone who has not experienced death in his or her family. Later, she returned to the Buddha and said, Give me my dead child. I will bury it, because who am I not to have experienced death.

Albert Einstein believed that everyone must become familiar with the thought of death if they want to grow into truly good people. He believed that we do not need to think of it every day or every hour. When the path of life leads us to some vantage point where the scene around us fades away and we contemplate the distant view right to the end, he felt that we need to pause for a moment, look at the distant view, and then carry on. Thinking about death in this way Einstein believed developed a love for life. When we are familiar with death, we accept each week, each day, as a gift. Accept life bit by bit and it will be more precious to you. Jesus attempted to educate everyone to this fact: And every one that hears these saying of mine, and doth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand Matthew 7:26 (KJV). Also, Romans 1:29 (KJV) states, For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made; so that men are without excuse.

Teresa of Avila, an early christian saint, believed nothing should disturb you. Know that all things pass; God never changes. He who knows God finds he lacks nothing: For God alone will suffice. Everyone is able to acquire wisdom, knowledge, and spiritual gifts from God by unwavering devotion because they have made themselves accessible and teachable. Strive to remain teachable.
