About this ebook

If in your heart you have the calling to serve God, do not let this story deter you from doing so.

When I entered the convent to serve the Blessed Lady, it was in the year 1943. Since Vatican II came into existence, many rules have changed. What were the rules of yesterday do not pertain today. You may be called to sacrifice and find setbacks. Whether you continue your life as a lay person or a nun, you are not assured the problems you have to go through will not be painful. I know after I came out of the convent, I faced many hardships, pain and suffering

I just turned eighteen two weeks before I was to graduate from high school. The reason I was happy about graduating was because I did not believe I would get to this stage of my life due to illnesses and hardships I went through.

There were many days I could not attend classes because of my chronic condition with my kidney and bladder that I was afflicted with as a child. There were many duties placed on my shoulders because of the fact my mother had to go to work in order to help my father with the finances.

The many duties I had to tend to after a very long day in school. I had to make up the work in school that I missed. Then at home, I had to take care of my three brothers and one sister, the house had to be cleaned, clothes had to be washed and dinner had to be made.

It was only through the kindness of the teachers who helped me after classes that made it possible for me to graduate.

The day I was to have my graduation picture taken my mom drove me to a beauty parlor which I had never been to and I was thoroughly shocked and surprised. I got my hair set, my nails polished and make-up applied to my face. When I looked in the mirror to see what I looked like, I could not believe it was me! In fact, when I went back to school, I walked in and all of a sudden the boys in my class looked at me and rushed over to talk to me thinking I was a new student.
