About this ebook

Words spoken through the mists of time:

Trustwe love with pure heart, pure intent!

Truthwe seek that which cannot be seen!

Soulwe touch that which cannot be felt!

Bitternesswe taste that which does not pass our lips!

Successwe smell that which so sweetly does it hold the senses, yet of aroma it has none!

Logicwe understand the concept of life, yet do know not how!

Emotionswe heal the wounds within where scars do not show, yet go deeper than most!

This book is about the struggles of a proud and resilient people whose way of life was to be altered without thought for their traditions or culture as the white men infiltrated deeper and deeper into their lands. It reflects their way of life before it changed, and the effect it was to have on a nation ground down by ignorance and greed. There are many reasons for this work, and spirit laid no blame on those perpetrators; the main reason they have come forward now is the need to see our world saved from the power struggle going on between nations, and the rape of our beautiful lands. Having been taken on many journeys with them, I understand so clearly how the indomitable spirit of this culture must stay alive, this being the reason for every word channeled.

To walk in shadow of sun is natural; to walk in shadow of another man is not.

A Hand Held Out

I am being shown a beautiful babbling brook. The sun is glistering on its surface as a thousand lights dancing with joy. A hand is being held out to me. I have to trust that all will be revealed as I walk into the picture.

I can smell the newness of the morning, and sweet Bird song assails my ears. My (as yet to introduce himself) friend, tells me I am being taken on a journey of learning. So I follow... I follow a voice... a hand... I listen and I wait. I spy Red Squirrel scurrying around foraging among fallen leaves for nuts. They do not notice me, for I am not really there, only in the sense of illusion. Trailing along the brook i am shown a beautiful little Pawnee child. She is playing in the water with a small dog that is yapping and running in circles around the child who is giggling and laughing at its antics. I feel as though I am watching this on a cinema screen, and yet I am being pulled into the scene by some unknown force.

I have loved poetry since I was a child and find that everyday situations as well as current topics steal their way onto my head and heart and therefore leave me with no option other than to pen as I find. Nature, war, spirituality, animals, life, emotions, all have a story to tell, and I enjoy forming words to highlight these subjects and hopefully to delight the readers’ palette.

    ECHOES OF THE PAST

Life is an illusion and only by illuminating the truth can we overcome the darkness. It does not mean we are living a lie, more we are seekers of the truth who have been misguided in our teachings.

    PREFACE

I have been aware through the channelling and writing of this book that all throughout, these wonderful spirit people have, when speaking about their tribes, their wisdom and amazing stories, regarded themselves as ‘Indians.’ In today’s society I am also aware of this title being politically incorrect… however, when talking with them I am asked to write exactly as I am given. Therefore I have done precisely that, and in doing so hope that I have offended no-one, but rather showed how the Native American Indian, regardless of title is still playing an important part in today’s society, and that their infinite wisdom and culture is an inspiration to all .

    WITH THANKS

M y love and gratitude go to my family and friends who believed in me when I doubted myself, and for their encouragement and patience as I plodded on, oblivious at times to their needs. A big thank you goes to my Editor Jayne for all your hard work. It goes without saying that my heart and soul goes out to my spirit friends who guided me every step of the way with their wonderful words, and their trust that I would deliver their book just as they channelled it. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and I hope your trust is justified.

Over the past two years whilst compiling spirit’s words, I have really doubted my ability to take on such a mammoth task. To be able to produce a book about their everyday life, stories handed down and many anecdotes of a unique way of life, has been an uphill struggle for me. What if I let them down? What if?

So! I have determined to write to the exact letter the words these wonderful people have channelled through me. My inspiration to keep going when I have truly faltered has been my loving family, and friends, who have believed in me from the start, and of course my truly inspiring spirit friends and guides who have picked me up, dusted me down and reminded me that they chose me to honour their words, and to trust without doubt every word spoken by them.

As Red Cloud said, Why choose you if we did not believe you capable, and so full of love for our Nation?

So, inspired by their trust and unconditional love, I begin their journey and hope you will travel with me into a way of life that was pure, proud and courageous.

    INTRODUCTION

I have always had a great respect for the Native America Indian. Their values, morals and family commitments have been an inspiration to me.

When I first started fully on my spiritual journey it was my dear guide ‘Two Feathers’ who inspired such confidence in me. So years later when he said I would write books about Indian wisdom and teachings I faltered. Did I know enough? Could I form those words into something readable? I had forgotten the golden rule! It was not my words but theirs channelled through me. So with a friend we set about and published the first book.

Now once again I have been asked by spirit to produce another book on the everyday life and teachings of the Native Indian. Once more I have channelled many different Indian souls, some known, others not so well known. And those with no name at all, just a voice echoing the past. Beautiful quotes and stories have been given to me throughout these pages, and all words have been written as I know they would want them to be.

So it just remains for me to trust that others will want to read and learn the fascinating insight into their daily life. Many stories handed down through the Grandfathers, and many songs sung by the Mothers to their Children have crept their way into this work. A gap filled, about the not so well known daily life of the tribes and their traditions.

I’ve have been asked the question; What happens if like me your readers do not understand about channelling and how these words came about? My answer to this is, I am only the voice for these beautiful souls. I cannot define when and where these spirits will take me, but I know without a shadow of doubt I will follow them in complete trust.

I have had the privilege to be taken on some of those journeys and have felt the Sun on my face, the dust in my mouth and the joy of their lives. Without a doubt it has been an incredible journey. I have laughed, cried and felt the desolation and determination of these people. I have watched tepees burned, Women and Children mown down and new birth. It’s been crazy, heart-warming and sad, but most of all it’s been inspirational. The souls long gone still remain as echoes in time. I hope you can travel with us, to laugh, cry, and see the courage that has inspired others over the years, and to understand their indomitable spirit, and to recognise these incredibly inspiring people.

I have treasured these journeys, and hope that you will enjoy them, and travel with me through the pages of this book, as they unfold their stories with spiritual love and compassion for all mankind.

"See through eyes not clouded with doubt, but shining with optimism and hope"

    INTRODUCTION FROM SPIRIT

"T here are many reasons why we chose Carolyn to write our words. She sees and feels with her heart, she does not judge, nor will she! She see good in all things and always looks ‘on the other hand’. She did well on our first book making sure no words were altered, we trust she will do same here.

"After ‘Whispers on the Winds’ we were aware that much wisdom was given, but little about how we lived, and the laws we lived by.

There is little left of our way of live apart from wisdom handed down from the Elders to their Children. Much get lost in the telling, so we are here to straighten this out. We see a revival of our people, see way they determine to stand for rights. We say, OK, but show better ways of life long gone."

"Maybe my people will listen, read book, see simple, happy lives. Then maybe they re-think life today, tomorrow. We happy to put trust in this Woman, she deliver our stories, take part in our journey, and show much love and respect for our way of life.

Trust in her words, for they are words from the Ancestors, and we never speak with forked tongue!

    STANDING BEAR SPEAKS

"S he who waits with patience learns much. Wisdom in words, take heed! Your time to shine come through like Sun rising in dark Sky. You soon twinkle like Star, no more in the shadows, we bring light into your dark world Carolyn.

"All who read this book know truth, know you will speak truths from Indian, after all, we your ancestors we no speak with fork tongue. It is enough now, you will go forward with much love and encouragement in your work. We ask you put this in book at front so others will see no matter how hard your journey has been, no matter how much you stumble from trusting others you have passed test, and now can go forward with a pure soul and much love in heart to share with others.

We have many pow-wows on this and Red Cloud, Two feathers, Two Rivers, Singing Dawn, Trading Bear, Shining Fox and I Standing Bear will guide you with many others to tell truths, funny stories, sad tales and much wisdom to all those who read book. This is your time Carolyn to show truth and simplicity of Indian nations. We compliment you on your faith, and knowing truth come out as it should, fork tongue always bite off more than it can chew.

To walk in the shadow of the Sun is natural, to walk in the shadow of another man is not ~ (Red Cloud)

    CHIEF RAIN WATER SPEAKS

"I am Chief Rain Water, I speak one minute only. We have great respect for many on Earth plane. Some not of our culture but with love and understanding of Indians plight. So we help bring words to book so others listen and learn. Many need help in our lands today. Many go off track but most just need helping hand to respect selves. The sweat lodges were a wonderful way of cleansing and preparing the mind and body for a beautiful experience. We must regain those times. There are plenty who would welcome old traditions, old ways back. There is a shift coming for all indigenous people, we will be recognised for our own worth and many lands and old ways will be restored to us.

This will be because of the effort and love put in by thousands like you who have many ideas and plans to retain age old customs. Those customs are truth and dignity that were stripped from many of us when white man decide he not like different colour, different cultures. He no say truth; that he was greedy and afraid. Two together like ticking time bomb - make man trigger happy. Now new things are coming to light and white man him ashamed of Ancestors. Him mighty sorry, this good for the generations to come. It not too late to right the wrongs, we trust truth and honour win through.

    LONG HORN SPEAKS

T hrough the windows of your mind seek the truth ~ (anon)

Come with me my Child I will take you on a journey of discovery. There are many ways in which we tell stories of my people; many tales tell of struggle to survive, many tell of simplicity and happiness. Others show how different life became when whites take over Indian way of life. Do-gooders who say we teach savages to become Christians. Well little one I ask you, how we become good Christian when it ‘good Christians’ that kill our women and Children, take Ponies and destroy our way of life? Does not your Bible say; Do unto others as you would have done unto you"? I tell you those white people were the heathens, they hypocrites, and most spoke with forked tongue. When Indian give word, word sacred. When white man give word that all it is, silken lies dripping from forked tongue. Lies so easily told and to our shame so easily believed, because Indian never break word, him die of shame first.

"We took in great faith promises made to give land for all tribes to settle, lead peaceful lives again. We shook hands
