THIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO ALL OF THOSE WHO—FOR THE PAST
DECADE—AIDED IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF PURE EMOTION
INTO ART. BE IT FROM NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE IMPACT, THIS BOOK
IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE RAW INSPIRATION I’VE DERIVED FROM
HUMANITY AND LIFE.
IF IT WEREN’T FOR YOUR INFLUENCES ON ME, THERE WOULD BE NO
VITAL ENERGY.
SPECIFIC ‘THANK YOUS’ TO MY MOTHER, MARK,
DAD, SANDY, GRANDMA NANCY, PAPA, GRANDMA LOIS & GRANDPA DEAN.
THANK YOU FOR MY INDIGENOUS AND INHERITED GENES.
Eleven Questions
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU AWAKE IN THE MORNING AND YOUR LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNED OFF?
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE RAIN GETS INTO YOUR WINDOW?
WHAT GOES THROUGH YOUR MIND WHEN YOU ARE LEFT TO YOUR OWN DEVICES?
DO YOU LONG TO BE SOMETHING BETTER, SOMETHING YOU KNOW YOU WILL NEVER BE?
DO YOU WISH FOR A MORE FULFILLING SELF?
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ALL AMBIENT NOISE STOPS, WHEN ALL IS STILL AND MOTION IS WEIGHTLESS?
WHAT PLAGUES THE VERY NOTION OF YOUR BEING BEFORE YOU WAKE?
WHAT FESTERS IN THE DEEP DARK CORNERS OF YOUR MIND’S EYE?
DO YOU HATE THE MIRROR, OR THE REFLECTION?
WHY DO YOU TORTURE YOUR SOUL ON ENDLESS ACCOUNTS WITH VISIONS OF WHAT IT WILL NEVER SEE/BE/ACHIEVE?
DO YOU FEEL GUILTY WHEN YOU SIN?
A Figment of You
63629-PRAT-layout.pdfYOU ARE A FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION, DAMP GRASS IN COOL SHADE UNDER THE BRIGHT NOONTIME SUN.
A TRANSIENT REFLECTION IS ALL THAT I CAN CAPTURE OF YOU UNTIL THAT MINUSCULE SHRED OF TIME SHATTERS INTO A BILLION BROKEN PIECES.
IT FALLS TO THE FLOOR AND IN AN INSTANT YOU ARE GONE, FORGOTTEN.
THE SWEET SMELL OF FREEDOM WAFTS INTO THE OPEN WINDOW WITH GREEN SHUTTERS.
A GHOST OF YOU HAUNTS ME AS WE ARE SURROUNDED BY ORANGE LIGHT WADING THROUGH SLOW MOTION.
OPEN WINDOWS AND COMFORT MIXED WITH MOMENTARY EXHILARATION FLOAT FREELY PAST US WHILE GALLANT BURSTS OF LAUGHTER FILL OUR SPACE.
I PICK UP ONE OF THE PIECES FROM THE FLOOR AND VISIONS OF LUSH GREEN FOLIAGE ENGULFING A CELLAR PRISON MIRROR ME FROM WHERE WE STAND—THE SHRED OF YOU AND ME.
NO SUN, JUST SHADE AND A MUSTY DUST WHIRLWIND BENEATH OUR FEET.
YOU HAVE ME AND I HAVE YOU; FORESTRY AND FOREVER DOOMED LOVE SURROUND US BOTH. IT’S NOT AS SIMPLE AS, I MISS YOU.
YOU WERE MY LIFE, ALL THAT I HAD. YOU SHARED A BRAIN WITH ME, A HEART WITH MY HEART. YOUR SOUL BECAME ENTWINED WITH MY SOUL, ROUTED WITHIN MY BODY, AND I TREATED IT AS IF IT WERE MY OWN.
ANOTHER SHRED OF MEMORY DISPLAYS ILLUMINATIONS FROM THE PAST—A CAREFREE, HAPPY TIME. I DROP IT AND IT SHATTERS ON THE FLOOR IN A MILLION MORE PIECES BEFORE MY ETERNAL EXHALE LEAVES ME BREATHLESS AS I FALL TO MY KNEES—I FALL TO THE FLOOR.
