Poems and Prose on Love and Relationships Ii - Valerie T. Mainville
I’LL TAKE LOVE
Amongst the hurry and the scurry of life
I’ll take love.
Have we forgotten the feel of one’s tender touch,
Because we’ve failed to love too much?
Have we forgotten the love and passion
And the daily hugs and touch?
Amongst the daily scurry
Baby, I’ll Take Love.
The elated floating feeling
That gives us total strength
To carry on amidst the confusion,
Baby, I’ll Take Love.
WORDS WITHOUT ACTIONS
You don’t love me, you don’t care
Words don’t cut it, so beware.
You leave me standing unfulfilled
Words don’t cut it like you think it will.
Words without action become lies.
Do you think I believe those alibis?
You’re but a touch away from the blues
Careful how you tread on these shoes.
I’ve walked thin lines before
I’m not afraid to close that door
If you want to keep me here
I say: Adhere!
Love is a fleeting thing.
It doesn’t even need a ring.
Love can stay or walk out that door.
Choose your slate forever more.
LIFE’S HIGHWAY
Sometimes, I think I don’t want you hanging around my door.
Sometimes, I don’t think I need you anymore.
The walls came crashing down
Tearing up our sacred home.
No longer can I stay,
I prefer to roam.
What happened to that love?
How did we drift apart?
No longer are we happy.
How do we heal the heart?
Are we living a lie?
Going from day to day
Acting like everything is okay?
Life’s highway is a long way to go.
Are we ready to see the end?
Or will we just pretend?
DOUBTS, GET OUT OF MY MIND
Doubts, get out of my mind.
Because you’re not the cheating kind.
Bad memories of love gone
