ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mr. Joe Country
Greenidge is a uniquely gifted personality. He is known as a Country Gospel artist, and musician. He has several recorded albums to his credit. Joe earned a three years diploma in theology on campus, from the West Indies School of Theology (WIST), Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. He was the first to have the nerves to take country music to, possibly, the most difficult audience ever, which as when he appeared on the popular New York City television program: It’s Showtime at the Apollo
, in Harlem, New York. In the words of the show’s host, Steve Harvey, I have never seen this one before; this is a momentous moment here. You may never see this one on the Apollo’s stage again. I have never heard of a countryman that came here before.
Joe can also boast of having a very close friendship with Mr. Vernon Winfrey, the father of television talk show hostess, and celebrity, Ms. Oprah Winfrey. Mr. Winfrey, a professional barber, and owner of his own shop, was Joe’s barber during his residency in Nashville. In November 2007, Joe had the privilege of taking Mr. Winfrey, and his wife Barbara, along with Mr. Ray Stephenson, a country singer from Nashville, TN, to his native island homeland, Grenada. Following that, another major highlight that garnered him more success, was when he was contacted in 2007 by the Jimmy Kimmel TV Show executives in Hollywood, California. This invitation was for him to participate in the Jimmy Kimmel TV Show Search for America’s Greatest Black Yodeler.
With his new book Come on, Stupid, Love Yourself!
it is no surprise that his fans will be asking, What is next?
So, here he is, with his first series of his thought-provoking, motivational, and inspiring book, while we are left highly anticipating the coming series.
PREFACE
In a society where becoming a fugitive of yourself is the norm of the day, my book is asking this generation which finds itself in a drunken stupor, How long can you run from yourself, before things catch up with you? How long can you neglect yourself, before your world comes crashing down on you?
With these, and other related questions in mind, I was inspired to write, Come on, Stupid, "Love Yourself!"
The recent collapse of our own economic system on Wall Street was due to corporate greed, and the negligence of the governmental agencies’ oversight. The same thing could take place in your personal lives. If we don’t stop, take stock and start loving ourselves.
By chance, you might be tempted to have the same mind-set as the captain of the Titanic. He thought that due to its size and advanced technology then, the ship was unsinkable and had the capacity to rip through any iceberg. But to his amazement, the ship, his life and the lives of others on board of the world’s then-greatest cruise liner, were ripped apart. You don’t have to wait until you hit an iceberg to start loving yourself.
As you read this book, it is my hope and prayer that you will like everything about my book. It is my strong conviction also that there is enough food for thought in this book. It will peek your curiosity and challenge you to get on the road to taking a closer look at yourself.
I have many books in my library of authors with whom, to some extent, I am in disagreement. However, I thought that it would be more beneficial for me to have their books than to not have them. I have in my possession, a CD with ten songs, which I bought for one particular song. It would be great, if you would use this same yardstick, to determine whether it is better to have my book, as one of your collections, than not having it. It is always good to ask a question, before coming to a harsh conclusion about anything, including my book. There’s a saying, Don’t throw out the baby with the bath-water.
It’s not so much, what I say to you about loving you that really matters most. If all you would have gotten from reading my book, are the things that you’ll start saying, and doing to, and for yourself, will have had a greater impact on your life than before you read it. That would make me feel
