About this ebook

In this small book, I try to encompass different moods and experiences. I focus on the things
that excite me, and, also, on the things that give me pause and cause me to wonder about my
world. The themes in the series on experience, are based on the human condition: in poems
like Homeless in Herald Square, and The Acts of Humankind, and inner reflection: in poems
like Escape, and Death. The themes in the series based on communication, include
everyday news that is distributed through news media outlets: in poems like The News, and
human interaction: in poems like The Silent Customer. The themes on love and nature are
based on personal encounters, in poems like, I Still Dont Know Her Name, and a love of
nature, in poems like These Trees.

Author

Gerald Thomas

I am a high-school student studying in Brooklyn, New York. I started writing poetry at the age of 12 years old. I continue to express myself through poetry. For years, I have been fascinated by the Asian culture. I constantly listen to Japanese, Korean, and Chinese music and one of my favorite hobbies is watching Asian dramas. This Asian influence can be felt within my poetry. The literature written within this book expresses my own abstract nature and reveals experiences of a more personal nature. I hope this book helps you to find the next step in your life. I hope it helps you to find your own Nirvana.

    SPIRIT OF MINE

    Spirit of mine

    Float away! Float away!

From this place where misery stays

And doubt and fear are never far away.

    Float away! Float away!

To somewhere, where the voice of faith can speak to my fear and confidence guide my way.

    HOMELESS IN HERALD SQUARE

Inside this black and dingy gear

There is a heart that feels and fears.

Although dirt has matted all of my hear,

And claws have replaced my nails,

Inside this black and dingy gear,
