I was a king and from the hard and difficult times my clan had finally been able to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Many of the warriors no longer needed their armor and swords, these things were replaced with tools for building and farming.

I went down to the lake to feed the fish when I saw a beautiful bird land on a fallen log next to my feet. It looked up at me and said "Igwe, Igwe! Wake up you fool we must get to the chief’s hut they are having a high council meeting and we are to be present.Igwe was suddenly awakend by his brother Ijunta.

Igwe sprang to his feet slightly disoriented; he was not very cat-like in reality. Hurry, we are already late cried Ijunta who is the complete opposite of Igwe. The two finally emerged from their hut trying to hog down the small pieces of dried meat that they had left from an earlier hunting trip.

Igwe cried how much further? Igwe had never been to chief Honawei’s hut before and now he would be late. While running Igwe felt like they were being followed so he looked back and all of a sudden boom! He had run straight into Ijunta.

Usually Ijunta would have retaliated with a hit to the head but he didn’t even look back at Igwe, his hand just motioned Igwe to stand to the right of him.

At first Igwe didn’t understand, but when he looked around fear shot through his body. Standing all around us were the Anuki elite with their infamous Katuche` blade.

They are the most feared and respected warriors in our tribe they do not allow any one near Chief Honawei unless he has ordered them to and even then they are still very weary of how close you get to him and what you say.

Then all of a sudden they came to attention as if they were statues. Then through the mist that was swirling through the trees we saw them. Two figures appeared through the fog followed by a slightly smaller figure.

The first two were the Anuki high Priest. The Priests represent the good and bad in the ways of the world. Okoa is the representation of light; she had long beautiful flowing hair jet black against her caramel skin she was gorgeous. Her eyes were like staring into a bottomless well, and in her face you could see love and compassion as well as the cold stare of a shark.

The Okoa is always dressed in white tiger fur with two Katuche` blades. There are tales of times when the Anuki elite was annihilated and only the Okoa priest was left and before losing her life she had slain just enough of the enemy for the Chief to summon the Spirit protectors to aid him in his escape.

On the left side of her is a built but agile looking man upon his body is the hide of a panther his skin is painted to match the beast he is embraced by. On his waist is the Ishanke`, this man has to be the Okao or the representation of dark.

In order for one to carry the Ishanke` death must be his craft, this blade is known for carving the fate of enemies of our clan since the beginning. The front of the blade is smooth made to open flesh with ease, the back of the blade is serrated for anything the mind can come up with. The hilt of the handle is engraved with the symbols of kings that have fallen by the blade.

The most paralyzing thing about the Okao is his eyes in them it is difficult to sense love they only show the calmness of the abyss almost like it would hurt him to think of anything other than the battlefield. I now understand why outsiders say if the Okao draws his blade it is not to protect.

Finally the Chief himself stepped forward and with a deep and calm voice he said welcome my children this is your day a day that some will prevail and others will learn the pain of defeat. For two months you will be away from all you know and love. I will return at the end of this trial to ask you a simple question and your answer should reflect what you have learned but also reflect your own view as well.

Then the Chief turned and walked away and the Okao stepped forward and began to speak. The first thing you will learn is brotherhood each of you will band your hand together with one other and you will leave down this path my brothers and I will check in on you periodically you will not know we are there but if your bonds are cut the cost will be dear now go.

The two brothers tied their hands together and started down the trail after a day they needed to find food. They quickly found out that it is quite difficult to work with one hand while the other hand is not yours to command. Ijunta came up with the idea of fishing so they gathered two pieces of wood and began to sharpen them, after a few tries the brothers ran into a problem every time that Ijunta threw his spear and missed It would throw igwe’s aim off and he would miss the fish that he was trying to spear.

Nothing tasty came out of this so for the first night dinner was grubs from a tree that had fallen to the ground. When the brothers woke in the morning two darts were setting on our chest the anuki were letting us know that we were too easily found so the young warriors moved on to a better area.

After traveling for a mile the came upon the first trial. A statue of a woman holding her arms as if she was holding a baby but there was no baby around. The readings on the tablet said: "Show the mother of all respect by giving birth to a child that is not of your own kind.

Ijunta yelled What the hell is that supposed to mean? We can’t even have children until we become men by passing the trials and how can we have a child that is not of our kind? To make things even worse you need a woman to make a child Damn it! Igwe then told Ijunta to quiet down let him think. Igwe then turned to Ijunta and asked who is the mother of all? Ijunta responded with a curious look on his face Gaia of course, who else would it be? Igwe then added Right so if she is the mother of all we can give birth to a child if we plant a seed. At this epiphany Ijunta place his hand on hit forehead and said Damn! Little brother I guess all that day dreaming did you some good but where can we find a seed?

As the two progressed further down the path the came to a tree with acorns on it, this trial seemed like it would be an easy one. The two then approached the tree and tried to find a acorn that they could place in the statue’s hand but when they reached down to grab the prize both were kicked off their feet. As they both scrambled to get positioning they took a combat stance, their only problem was that they couldn’t see the foe. Ijunta said where is he I can’t see anything ahh! Again we were hit this time; we were tossed against the tree like some rag dolls. The Acorns that fell from the tree and the two brothers hit the ground almost simultaneously. Ijunta then whispered to Igwe and said look at the acorns on the ground as the Anuki shifter moved around they could see the acorns being squished under his weight. Now they had a target to attack so as Ijunta held his younger brother’s arm Igwe threw a roundhouse kick and at the end of the attack igwe’s brother swung him back around to deliver a stronger more unexpected blow which disoriented the shifter’s thoughts long enough for his invisibility chant to be removed. They then worked in conjunction with one another to send him a flurry of kicks and punches that eventually knocked him down. Upon this occurring the Anuki shifter rose to his feet and began to speak Well done my young students you have learned to defeat the shifter spell. And your reward for doing so will be to learn this skill. First we meditated for hours this allows for us to silence the world around us once we reached a trance like state the anuki warrior spoke to us again in a stern but soft manner. The key to shifting does not lie in thinking of becoming unseen it lies in becoming apart of all that is around you, you do not become invisible you become blended with everything around you. The air, water, earth and wood these are what make you unseen and knowing how to move with these things instead of against them. Igwe started to feel dizzy and then nauseous right when he almost couldn’t bare the light headedness she came to me. Gaia Hello my child I give you this gift to protect against those who would cause harm to you but be warned when you use this sacred gift for self gain I will make you unseen for all eternity your spirit will be lost and eventually you will shift to oblivion. Be well my child and continue on your journey for it is only the beginning. When Igwe awoke the bands that he and Ijunta had made were off, but
