About this ebook

This book brings to life the journey of the Israelites to their promised land and gives us a reflection of our own journey to our destiny. The Israelites had to go through eleven main camping sites on their journey beyond the river Jordan, and each camping site was a school of valuable lessons. It gives more than fifty lessons of life from Pi Hahiroth as they crossed the red sea and back to the wilderness around the Hill Country of Seir when they lost faith. It is an interesting study of the Israelites exodus from slavery and applicable as a bible study tool for the book of Exodus by individuals, groups, fellowships and church congregations. It offers personal evaluation at the end of every chapter designed to help each and every one of us come into an awareness of our progress in the fulfilment of our destiny.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Itake this opportunity to give God all the glory for calming me down from the daily hustles and bustles of life to listen and write this book. Thanks to my friend and companion, the Holy Spirit who gave me in-depth revelation of God’s word.

This book was made possible through the love, prayers, and support of many special friends who prayed for me during the quiet and long period of its writing. I am deeply indebted to many who were my support system in the development and production of this book.

❖  To my parents Charles and Loise Njuki who understood and encouraged me during the long and quiet time that I took to write it down.

❖  To my husband Godfrey for being there to support me.

❖  To my loving children Celine, Einstein and Candace who encouraged me through this process, consistently prayed for me and patiently bore with mummy’s quiet times.

❖  To Zipporah Mwangi who took her time to edit and help shape the book from its infancy.

❖  To many special friends who walked with me through this journey of faith such as Janet Riungu, Elizabeth Gathura, Jane Kipkebut, Peninah Muiruri, Pastor Isaac Muriuki, and many others, may the Lord graciously bless you.

    DEDICATION

To every soul desiring to walk, live and do it God’s way.

To the one who seeks to fulfill Gods purposes.

To all who understand that the world passeth away, and the lust thereof; but he who doeth the will of God abideth forever.

To my loving children, Celine, Einstein and Candace, that the path of righteousness will be your way of life.

    Preface

The Israelites lived in Goshen, Egypt after Jacob’s family had relocated from the famine-stricken nation of Canaan. Jacob was Isaac’s son and through this lineage, God was fulfilling His promise to Abraham.

"I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you from generation to generation. This is my everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you, and I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner to you and your descendants. It will be their procession forever, and I will be their God (Exodus 17:7-8)."

This promise was the overall objective of the Israelites exodus from Egypt to Canaan, the land of their promise and destiny. All the experiences in their exodus encompassed His entire plan for their destiny. The Lord was out to fulfill His covenant to His friend Abraham in a period of about two years. However, it took more than forty years due to the unbelief and disobedience of the Israelites.

The Israelites’ exodus is a mirror for self-examination to learn from their experiences. Our ultimate destiny is our Father’s house, for He promises us that there is more than enough room for each one of us. When we give our lives to Jesus, we embark on a journey to fulfill our purpose here on earth. We enter into a phase of knowing God more and more and being prepared for our destiny.

I pray that the Holy Spirit will speak to you as you read this book so that you will desire to trust God in your journey of faith towards your purpose.

    INTRODUCTION

    Characteristics of our Destiny

Destiny is the purpose to which every man is assigned by God.

Everyone who starts on a journey hopes to arrive to a destination with better prospects, opportunities and resources than where he is coming from. A person who understands his/her destination does not get distracted, however promising the stop-overs are, because they are sure of what they expect at the end. God promised the children of Israel a destiny that was far much better than their beginnings (Egypt) and the camping grounds they were to pass through. He knew He would take them through beautiful grounds yet did not expect the Israelites to make any of those territories their final destination. They had to enjoy God’s blessing along the way as they progressed to that which God had promised them.

These are the characteristics of the destiny promised to the Israelites.

Exodus 3:8: A fertile and spacious land flowing with milk and honey. The land where the Canaanites, Hitites, Amorites, Perrizites, Hivites and Jebusites lived.

Deuteronomy 8:7-8: A land where all would go well with them and they would have many children. A land of flowing streams and pools of water with fountains and springs that gushed out in the valleys and hills.  A land of wheat and barley, grapevines, fig trees and pomegranates, olive oil and honey. A land where food was plentiful and nothing lacked.  Where iron was a common stone and copper was abundant in the hills.

Deuteronomy 11:8-12: A land where they would enjoy long life. A land of hills and valleys with plenty of rain. A land that God cared for
