About this ebook
This is a great introduction to the sanctuary.
After Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, God instructed them to build Him a sanctuary. Almost everything about the sanctuary had a symbolic meaning associated with it. The overall message behind all of the symbols of the sanctuary was the plan of salvation. This was the Gospel message before there was a Bible!
This short book is an introduction to understanding the sanctuary and its symbolism, and how it all points to Jesus as the Messiah, the Lamb of God.

Acknowledgements
Thank you, John and Brianne, for having so much fun learning about the sanctuary through this study. You begged to make the model again and so we made it twice!
Thanks to Corky Evans for renting me his basement apartment while I was a college student. You couldn’t live under Corky’s roof without learning about the sanctuary. What a passion he had!
Thanks to my wife, Kerry, who has been so helpful in putting this together.
Foreword
One of the great themes of the Bible is that of God’s desire to dwell with His people. The great desire of the Creator of the cosmos—One whom the heaven of heavens cannot contain
(2 Chronicles 2:6)—is that He and His people would be together.
In expressing this to Moses, God said: And let them make Me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them
(Exodus 25:8). That sanctuary in the wilderness—that dwelling place of God—became the hub of the entire Hebrew way of life. God Himself was present there, and the ceremonies and rites and sacrifices of the Old Testament were conducted in and around the sanctuary.
In Christ’s Sanctuary, Mark Trethewey shows that the sanctuary and its services, so vital to faith and religion in days gone by, are full of lessons and instruction and blessing for us who live so close to Jesus’ return and desire to be ready for that day.
Written to appeal to both adults and children alike, Christ’s Sanctuary is a faith-building book. Your faith in the Bible as God’s reliable word will grow as the authority of Scripture is powerfully affirmed. As you read, you’ll be more convinced than ever that Jesus is the great Savior of the world, and that God’s gift of salvation is freely available to all who choose to accept.
This is a book that does what a good book ought to do—it points to Jesus as humanity’s great hope. As we live in the shadow of Christ’s soon return, and on the eve of some of the most momentous and troubling times this world has ever experienced, understanding what Jesus is doing for us now is imperative. As you encounter in the book Jesus the bread of life, Jesus the light of the world, Jesus our great high priest and Jesus our soon-coming King, you will be spiritually refreshed and renewed.
Christ’s Sanctuary is a book whose time has well and truly come. Anyone serious about experiencing a deeper relationship with Jesus in preparation for His return will be greatly blessed by spending time in its pages.
One day it will be said, The dwelling place of God is with men, and He will dwell with them
(Revelation 21:4). I sincerely believe the Spirit of God has moved Mark Trethewey to write this book so that as we learn from the past we can be readied for a glorious, eternal future.

Why Study the Sanctuary?
Psalm 77:13 Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary . . .
The sanctuary is about the Gospel of Jesus. It’s ALL about Jesus and His plan to redeem us. The purpose of the sanctuary in the Old Testament was to show ancient Israel the plan of redemption through the Lamb of God, the Messiah. This plan of redemption through Christ’s sacrifice was so rich and so deep that God had Moses set up the sanctuary so He could dwell among His people. Everything in the sanctuary is about Jesus!—the gate, the courtyard, the brazen altar, the laver, the first and second compartments, the candlestick, showbread, incense, veils, coverings, even the ark of the
