Introduction
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
~ Dr. Seuss
So before we dive into the meat of this book, let’s talk about a few fundamental principles that everyone on this planet can relate to.
These principles can not only shape the way you live your life, but form the lens through which you view the world. I’m asking you to read these and truly comprehend what they mean, because simply grasping these concepts will be enough to change the trajectory of your life and perhaps your family's life decades into the future.
And rather than hearing these thoughts from me (you don’t know me yet), I want you to hear it from people who have already made their impact on the world. An impact that perhaps you might still make as well…
YOUR MINDSET IS YOUR ONLY LIMITATION
I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.
~ Mahatma Gandhi
The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die. As well the minds which are prevented from changing their opinions; they cease to be mind.
~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Stop giving other people the power to control your happiness, your mind, and your life. If you don’t take control of yourself and your own life, someone else is bound to try.
~ Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
LEARNING MASTERY HAS A METHOD
If people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all.
~ Michelangelo Buonarroti
Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.
~ John F. Kennedy
It took me a lifetime.
~ Pablo Picasso
THE BEST TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE IS RIGHT NOW
Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.
~ Leo Tolstoy
Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
~ Rumi
Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.
~ Jim Rohn
If I have one singular goal through writing, it is to change the way people view themselves in the world around them. With this goal in mind each book is broken into three simple parts:
The Mindset
The Method
The Implementation
I do this because we live in a world that wants to make you small and take away your control. We’re surrounded by people who want to tell us we’re limited in what we can do, believe, or achieve. The worst part is if you don’t learn to rewire your thinking, you can start to believe the nonsense and negativity.
Through mastery of your mindset you can train your brain to become your biggest asset and strongest ally. When you take the time to learn the best methods for accomplishing something, you increase your ability to achieve it exponentially. And finally, when you have learned enough to get started, it’s time to take action. Implement the knowledge you have gained and start. Just start, don’t wait, don’t allow doubt to creep in, like Nike says, Just Do It!
I write each book to help you fully understand the most basic ideas of a concept and remove the illusion that rapid change takes dramatic effort.
Life is a series of small steps and tiny victories.
Decide who you are, what you believe in,
