How To Learn Faster - Steven Hopkins
Introduction
Being human is amazing, and you’re an amazing human being. Why? Because we’re always eager to absorb information, whether we acknowledge it or not. Humans are amazing because we have such a huge capacity for taking in new facts, but it doesn’t stop at the academic stuff. We all have skills and talents that we develop over time, whether we realise it or not. This book is all about giving you the tools you need to set you on the fastrack to learning everything you want and need to, but in record time. I’ve been where you are now and I learned everything that I have to teach, except that I learned it all over time and I learned it the hard way. This book is all about giving you the inside scoop on what you need in order to get ahead of the crowd.
I have helped to create products, brands and set up businesses around the world, in a wildly different fields. Many of the things I started, or tried to start, ending up failing, and it was only with hard work and true knowledge of what I was trying to achieve that I found success. The true turning point for me, when it comes to learning, was listening to my wife, Michelle, when she reminded me that I wasn’t being true to myself. The businesses that I had been trying to set up weren’t about directly helping people. She, and my life coach, Linda, helped me to discover that my talents lay in reaching out to others and taking them on a journey. That’s partly why I’m reaching out to you today after my years of experience gathering and honing the skills that have given me such incredible success.
I’m a man who has done a lot in his life, not everything, but everything that was important to me at the time when I did it. Along the way I had to learn a lot of things, only natural in the course of life. But there wasn’t anything there to guide me. Not only did I have to learn a lot, but I often needed to do it in a hurry. I worked through everything as quickly as I could, trying to retain all the information that was necessary, but I often forgot things as quickly as I learned them.
Do you have that difficulty sometimes? Do you often feel that you forget things a few minutes after you’ve learned them? Some people think that this is a sign that they are not as intellectually blessed as others. But I am here to tell you that this is not the case. We all learn in different ways and at different speeds. What may work for one person may not work for someone else. There’s nothing wrong with that. There is no shame in needing to learn in a different way to others.
Often we can be made to feel undervalued, made to feel less than others if we need additional help, or if we have difficulty learning the same things that others pick up relatively easily. It isn’t necessarily because you are less gifted than others. It is just that you were not being taught in a way that was right for you. With everything that we now know about how the brain works and about how we all learn, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be fulfilling your potential, and that is exactly what I’m going to help you to do.
Many people whom are now considered geniuses were once considered slow. Thomas Edison, for example, was dyslexic but would become one of America’s greatest inventors. Albert Einstein only began speaking aged four, and can you believe that Walt Disney was accused of a lack of imagination? Despite all this, these people went on to achieve greatness in ways that no one could have predicted for them let alone themselves. They did this by learning, but they also did it by believing in themselves. Yes, I am here to help you to learn faster, but I am also here to tell you that you need to believe in yourself if my methods are going to work for you.
It’s no secret that we all love to learn, even those of us who say that we don’t. Often we feel that there are barriers preventing us from learning, but we are learning even when we don’t realise it. That is one of the things that makes the human experience so thrilling. We are always learning, even when we’re old and we think that there is nothing else that we have to learn.
We all have a parent, or a grandparent who is still keen to learn the use the latest technology. You’ve been to their house and tried to teach them how to email attachments, or use a smartphone, or
