~ Cinda ~

It seemed bittersweet to be back here at my childhood home, a little bungalow on the Jacobs’ estate in Upstate New York, where my mom worked. I’d been away for just over three years while I’d been attending college on the other coast. Even on my few breaks, which were far between since I’d gone full time in summers, too, my mother had come to visit me. I’d rarely come home, except for the long holidays. I’d graduate in a little under a month, and I’d planned to come home.

But my mom had a surprise for me. She’d met a guy and was getting married and moving away from here. I was so happy for her, but my heart hurt knowing I was saying goodbye to this place for good.
