About this ebook
It's all fun and games until your dad becomes Prime Minister. Then it's all "Behave and here's your personal protective services officer. By the way, he'll be your constant shadow."
Great. As if things weren't bad enough.
Fact 1: He has zero sense of humor and never smiles.
Fact 2: He doesn't appreciate Dudley Do-Right or Mountie jokes.
Fact 3: He's just ruined my attempt to sneak out of town and have some protocol-free time.
And now we're stuck in a storm in the middle of nowhere.
"Oh, what shall we do?"
I guess it's my personal Mountie to the rescue. It's all in the line of duty, right?

Chapter One
~ Nelly Harper ~
It’s all fun and games until your dad is elected Prime Minister. And then life becomes seriously uncool. A year later, I’d yet to suss out if he’d pulled strings or not to provide me with security. No one would tell me, but I’d wrongly figured that since I was twenty when he was elected, I wouldn’t be stuck with a protective service agent on my butt twenty-four seven. My father told me to suck it up, because this was the way things would be.
I didn’t believe him.
Since my mother passed away when I was five, he’d been overprotective as hell. So there I was, now twenty-one, with a glorified babysitter who followed me to classes and was uptight as an old-school nun.
And really, when I said uptight, that was an understatement. Someone as young as Dudders shouldn’t have been a stiff as a ruler. I kind of thought he might have that ruler shoved somewhere I shouldn’t considere. But honestly, I was pretty sure the man read the agent regulation manual for fun in his free time.
To clarify a few things… My shadow’s name wasn’t Dudders. Well, that’s his last name. Philip Dudders. Which cracked me up. Dudders and Nelly? Really. Reminded me of Dudley Do-Right and Nell Fenwick from the old cartoon…incredibly old. About as old as Dudders’ straight-laced attitude. He never appreciated my Dudley Do-Right jokes.
The other thing was, he didn’t actually guard me twenty-four seven. Just whenever I left the house, which I wasn’t allowed to do unless I’d let the security detail know.
And come on! What other twenty-one-year old had to deal with that? I should have been away at the university, partying with my peers. Nope. I was dressing like I was some sort of Canadian royalty, behaving with the same protocols required of princesses and having no fun at all.
Which brought me to that night. Reading week had arrived, and I fully intended to have some fun just like my American peers did during their corresponding spring breaks. I was hopping in my car, without permission, and hightailing it for the remotes of Michigan where I hoped to spend some time alone in a sparsely populated town with no security detail watching me.
Okay, that wasn’t so much a party. But I craved the freedom.
This was a dicey adventure. I was leaving the country without permission. My father would have a fit, but I was an adult for God’s sake!
I had hours before putting my plan into action. My classes had finished at midday and there was no way I could bolt for it until later. After Do-Right went home to his closet where he plugged in to recharge. I was pretty sure the man was a robot,
