INTRODUCTION

In February, I was scrolling through some social media posts and comments, and I noticed many people were burnt out and there was a repeated sentiment I’m ready for 2020. Say what! Here, we were only two months into a new year, and some had already given into life’s challenges and were waiting for the next year.

Immediately I pondered what are you going to do with the remainder of THIS year? Is it over already? Instantly, I was reminded of our New Year’s Eve worship service. My Pastor had assigned the members of the district’s ministerial staff to create a five-minute presentation to encourage the worshippers as we prepared for the turning of the new year. I titled my mini-sermon I Want What God Wants for Me, which was inspired by this popular Bible verse:

What piqued my curiosity was my subtitle, Our Hope is not in the New Year but in the One Who Makes All Things New. So, if God is the one who makes all things new, why then were many waiting on the turning of a new year to implement changes? We do not have to wait! In that moment, I was reassured and forever changed, knowing I could experience newness from God at any time, any day, and in any place. Delight! God has made this available for me and for you!

The revelation I received when preparing my mini-sermon became the inspiration behind this book. It is
