    Chapter 1: Finding The Self

    Finding one's true self is a mystical concept that has existed since ancient times. The soul, the oversoul, the atman, the monad, the I AM presence, the Christos, the illumined one, and so on have all been used to describe the ‘self.' Aside from labels, it can be defined as who you truly are without any of the social behaviors and attitudes that you have downloaded since birth. It can be 'discovered' by shedding illusion and peeling away the layers of programming, also known as the ego.

    The entire process of childhood and socialization consists of learning how to forget who we truly are. When we do something that contradicts their beliefs, our peers and parents chastise us. As a result, we learn how to behave in order to be accepted. The most important social norm is belonging to a group, family, or tribe. This dates back to a time when nonconformity would have resulted in expulsion from the tribe and death by starvation or freezing. Pleasing others is deeply ingrained in us, but it is also detrimental to our spiritual
