Foreword
There are those very rare moments in our lives when we know that we are standing in the presence of complete authenticity…that which is absolutely real. We see and feel the dichotomy of highs and lows, good and evil, pleasure and pain, and the hopes and dreams that sometimes falter on their way to reality. Tumika Patrice Cain bows to Truth in her own life on a daily bases, not attempting to fool herself or others about where she stands on any issue. She is the real deal when she flashes her beautiful smile or becomes assertive when life throws her that inevitable curve.
In her poetic renditions of The Heart of a Woman she offers her readers that same kind of legitimacy. We completely understand the power of her diction in Beautiful You when she laments, I cry crimson tears of hurt, pain, disappointment, that you and I are not to be,
or when she unpeels the truth of The Pawn when he is misusing, abusing, destroying innocent women not hip to his game.
Readers touch her gentle spirit through a powerful voice that unveils more of her compelling insight. She speaks to us in Beautiful Soul, expounding that he is a breath of fresh air.
He is a gentle spirit whose essence stays like nectar on each person lucky enough to grace his presence.
As she moves around the various microcosms of our world, we cannot escape the validity of each space in time as she prods and prompts us to be even more cognizant of a life that has no real escape from contrasting periods of time.
The mission of this passionate writer, however, is to express an eternal faith, hope, and love, each drawing the soul closer to The Creator. Tumika possesses the ultimate poetic voice that can catapult us back into our own memories, mesmerize us with both joys and sorrows, and bring to the surface a TRUTH that nestled in the Arms of God is the gentle tug of the Holy Spirit
working to heal the broken heart, years of torment, anguish and pain, but He says ‘I am here my child. I have never left you…never forsaken you.
Tumika is my friend who paints a vivid picture of life as she sees it, and lives it with passion, insight, and a truth that is clearly depicted in the style, diction, and voice, of the poet.
