About this ebook

Written for the teenage boy, Balls to Believe depicts a conversation between a son and his father. The father has seen a light of revelation, and he endeavors to show his son this spectrum. Inherent in his aim lies a challenge; the light shines brightly, and to one who has never seen it, the light may even prove blinding. Will the father usher in the dawn of a new day or plunge the boy in a deep mire of darkness?

    I: Jesus’ Food

    I love food, and I unapologetically admit that I live to eat. Hold your hoarse though, I don’t need your voice galloping down my back with a lecture on gluttony saddled on your larynx! At least not until you hear me out. I have an amigo who can’t do without a burrito made from Gouda cheesed-dough, and heavy with a filling of rice, shredded chicken, and black beans. Then there’s the amiga who’s set alight by the taste of frosty vanilla ice cream on her tongue. Oh, and the fräulein who loves a slice of Blackforest cake!

    These are just a few examples but I know for certain that everyone salivates at something, even Him! Jesus said, "The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started; the 34th verse of the 4th chapter of the Gospel according to Saint John (The Message).

    My good lad, what ‘food’ keeps you going? What makes you wake up in the morning with vigor? I ask, if ever you do wake up with vigor? Or is life just one big boredom of an episode of existence and you really don’t know what to do with your life? However way you answered, I would love to draw your attention to the importance of a purpose. A definite one.

    Definiteness of Purpose

    The presence of a definiteness of purpose, or the lack of it rather, will determine the outcome of your life; whether your life will be a blessing to both yourself and the community, or it will be more of a life which doesn’t do much of anything really. I say this with the hope that your life may not be counted a cursed existence. But enough of my praying and hoping, hold my hand and let us take this walk down wisdom’s path.

    I know the question you have is, What is purpose? Plainly answering, I say your purpose my good lad is your use. Yes son, understand this sooner than later, you’re here on planet Earth to be put to use, you’re here to work, but more on that later.

    You see son, purpose or as I’d put it, human-use, varies from one person to another. One may be born to teach, another born to nurse and so forth. And I can hear that voice in you saying, I know all this stuff, why do we have to go through it? I didn’t say you don’t know it my son, but bear with me as we lay the foundation. We cannot build a monument of wisdom without a foundation, right?

    Now that we’ve agreed to lay down the basics, I’d like you to remember my words on human-use. I said one is born to do something. But don’t take my word for it;
