His Thug Love Got Me Weak - B. Love

    Prologue

Her heels stabbed the floor ferociously as his attorney looked over his file. Sweat poured from her palms. Each of her fingers shook violently. And as much as she told her stomach to not twist and turn in fear it wouldn’t listen. Slowly his hand covered hers. She felt his eyes on her…but she was too fragile to look. One look into his eyes and any composure she had left would crumble. Instead, she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply as his lawyer began to speak.

It doesn’t look good. It doesn’t look good at all. This list of charges…murder, prostitution, drug trafficking, fraud, extortion, facilitating an illegal gambling ring, tax evasion…I don’t know if I can fight something like this, Reign.

She shook her head in disbelief. She knew he’d been into some illegal dealings…but nothing this serious.

And you are just now realizing this…after I’ve given you almost a hundred grand? he asked sitting up in his chair.

I think the best thing for you to do is turn yourself in, feed them some information, and take a deal. Otherwise, you will be looking at life in prison.

Clutching her chest, she sank deeper into her seat as tears trickled down her face.

    Not an option.

He stood. His arm and hand extended. She accepted and stood on weak legs.

Reign…think this through. I’ve…I’ve actually taken the liberty of calling a friend of mine down at the police station. To…to come and escort you down. He’s waiting for you outside.

    Reign chuckled.

    You set me up?

His lawyer said nothing as his eyes fell to the floor in shame.

Babe… Kenya mumbled. I don’t want to lose you. I can’t live without you, she continued falling into his arms for strength.

You won’t have to. If you’re willing to ride with me. And trust me. Trust me with your life, Reign whispered into her ear. She looked into his eyes as more tears fell from hers. After opening her mouth and finding nothing would come out, Kenya nodded okay. He kissed her deeply before pulling his gun from his waist and putting it against her temple.

Open the door and head for the car.

Reign…don’t do this. Just…let me talk to them…maybe we can work something out. Don’t bring a hostage into this.

Shut up! Open the door, Kenya.

Kenya opened the door and immediately his free arm wrapped around her waist.

Oh my God! A woman yelled gaining the attention of the three policemen standing guard, who immediately drew their guns.

"Reign, you don’t want to add kidnapping and resisting arrest to your already long list of charges.

Put the gun down and let her go," one of the officers spoke.

Reign shook his head no. She’s going wherever I go. And I can guarantee you it won’t be prison. You know me. You know my family. If you follow us…I’ll kill her. And whoever gets in my way.

    Reign…

This is not up for negotiation. Reign looked at the officer’s badge before continuing. Officer Smith. You’re the one that just had the new baby girl…right? The officer lowered his gun. Yea I know all about you. And your family. So don’t play with me.

Lower your guns, guys. Now! the officer ordered. The rest of the policemen did as they were told.

Now, I’m going to walk out of here, get in my car, and drive away. And I swear if anyone follows me…

No one is going to follow you, Reign. You have my word.

Reign nodded before nudging Kenya to head for the door. Quickly they walked to his car.

Get in the back and lay down, he commanded. She obeyed. After he’d driven for a couple of miles, Kenya finally found the strength to speak.

    Reign…

If they find us, you won’t be tied to any of this. They’ll think I kidnapped you and forced you to come with me.

I don’t care about that! Kenya yelled louder than she wanted to as more tears fell. How in the world do you plan on getting away with this? They’re going to catch us!

No, they’re not. As long as we’re careful. My uncle has been on the run for forty years. We can do this, Honey.

I…I’m not built for this kind of life, Reign.

Immediately he pulled over to the side of the road. He inhaled and exhaled deeply before getting out of the car and walking to the back seat. After opening the door, Reign pulled her out forcefully by her forearm and brought her into his chest.

I thought you said you were riding with me?

    I…I…am…but…

No buts. No doubts. No fear. No stress. That’s what messes up your mind. Have you out here making some crazy, stupid decisions. Get us caught. Cost both of us our lives. Now either you with me or you against me. If you with me get in the front seat and pull yourself together and put some faith in your man. I got you. If you against me walk over to that curb and call somebody to come and get you. But you’ll never see me again.

He released her and got back into the car. She took a step back and inhaled deeply as she looked up to the heavens. Slowly she began to walk and found her feet leading her to…

    A while back…

The Night Reign and Kenya Met

Reign could tell by her face that she was not interested in anything the man sitting next to her was saying. Sitting straight up with her side to him, she stared at the opposite wall of the restaurant as if she could see straight through it. Chuckling lightly, he read their lips and wondered what her voice sounded like up close.

I’m not interested, Reign read her say.

Baby…I can be everything you want and need, he read him say.

I’m not interested, she said again.

I can pay your bills for you. Wash your car. Pay your note off, he continued.

    I’m not interested.

Okay, so if you don’t want me to do anything for you, what do you need from me, baby?

Finally, she looked at the woman, whom he assumed was her friend, and shook her head. Sensing her irritation, Reign decided to step in and rid her of the pest her beauty had gained. And what a beauty she was. He didn’t blame the man at all. Honey was gorgeous.

She needs for you to leave her the fuck alone, Reign spoke to the leech.

My bad, boss. Didn’t know this was you.

The woman looked at him skeptically but quickly lightened her facial expression when she realized what her savior was doing.

    Now you know. Leave.

    Yes, sir.

The man stood and left her side immediately. She smiled, genuinely for the first time the entire night.

Thanks… she mumbled, dropping his heart and eyelids. Her voice was like cream to his ears. I’d shake your hand but that would look kind of suspect huh? Her smile widened, causing him to smile.

This time it was she who lost herself in him.

He was gorgeous. His hazelnut skin was a shade darker than her honey complexion, but it was light enough to show the tattoos that covered his arms, as did hers. His amber under turned eyes stared into her slanted coffee brown ones and sent chills down her spine. Sticking her fingers through her black natural loosely curled hair, she lowered her eyes as she blushed.

He had the fingers of a pianist. Fingers that looked as if they’d have her singing the sweetest melodies. As they covered her chin, he lifted her from her chair. Quickly, yet slowly, his lips covered hers for the sweetest kiss she’d ever experienced. As he covered her cheeks with his hands, she gripped both sides of his shirt, pulling him deeper into her. Wrapping her hands around his wrists, she jumped back slightly when his tongue tried to enter her mouth.

Embarrassed by his lack of self-control, Reign immediately placed his hands in his pockets to keep from touching her again. Staring into her eyes, he spoke finally, I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me. You’re just…so beautiful.

    It’s okay.

Just looked like you needed some help.

Smiling lightly, she nodded. Yea, and my best friend over here was none at all. She looked at her best friend who was staring him up and down.

What’s your game my nigga? her best friend asked him.

Reign chuckled. I have no game at all, sweetheart.

The screeching of the microphone took all of their attention as the MC returned to the stage.

Alright, guys, it’s time for us to start our spoken word and poetry night. First up we have…my girl…haven’t heard her perform in months…Kenya…

Saying nothing, his newfound love brushed against him lightly as she made her way to the stage.

Kenya, Reign spoke to himself. Kenya.

Wiping her sweaty palms against her skin tight ankle length dress, Kenya inhaled deeply as she made her way to the stage.

    Insecurely.

This man had shaken something inside of her that she didn’t even know was still.

He watched her slow saunter to the stage. She had the perfect body to him. She couldn’t have been more than one hundred and twenty five pounds. But the dress she had on accentuated her curves. And her small but round derriere commanded his touch. Disappointment set in when she made it to the stage and turned to face him but quickly left when he stared at her beautiful face.

Running her fingers through her hair, Kenya sighed into the microphone.

Have you ever been so enraptured by someone that they just…steal every thought that was in your head? she asked staring deeply into his eyes. Some people nodded. Others looked on. She noticed neither. Her attention was on the man who’d just stolen all of her. Closing her eyes, she took a step back and inhaled deeply before looking at him again and smiling.

This has no title. Just an off the dome freestyle.

He nodded as if there was no one else in the room but them.

"I don’t believe in love at first sight. More like lust at first sight. That leads to one-night stands. No expectations. No disappointment. No exchange of contacts.

No reason to try and understand why he didn’t call the next day. No shame. No regret in the worst way.

No need to cry between the lids over my eyes but…he…does make me cry between my thighs and my God do I like this kind of wet.

Letting him dry my tears would set me back years have my soul naked and exposed, tied to his. I don’t know if this man is married, gay, or has any kids…but…that’s the great thing about lust.

That’s the great thing about one-night stands. None of that matters. And that’s good because I don’t care. I just want him there.

In bed. Next to me. Making my bottom set of lips speak.

As he speaks in tongue. You golden eyed King do you know what you have done?

What you have awakened in me? Four years of singleness and celibacy. Now like four years an afterthought at the thought of spending the night with you. I hope I’m not too bold for you.

Just expressing thoughts that I’ll honestly never act on.

Because the guilt will remain even after you’re long gone."

Taking a step back, Kenya bit her bottom lip lightly and broke eye contact with him, afraid of how open and vulnerable she allowed him to make her feel. The audience stood in applause, but she didn’t care. She just had to get out of there. Stepping off the stage, Kenya looked at her best friend before heading for the exit door. Grabbing both their purses, her best friend stood to follow her out.

Wait, she can’t leave, Reign decided. Take me to her, he demanded.

    She’d have a fit.

    "I don’t
