Saidrym Noel, I want to take you as my wife, for now and forever. Myrdias’ words rang out in her head as she drifted in and out of sleep. She sat behind Myrdias on his bronze drake, Nursis, with her arms wrapped around him tightly.

For the past several months she wandered Azeroth alone, performing errands and missions for this person and that and aiding in the cataclysm relief. She had been separated from Myrdias by Lady Liadrin, a previously unknown feeling to her; they had never spent more than a week apart from each other in their entire lives. It had driven herself to hysterics and near the point of insanity pondering his whereabouts and his well-being. Taking a short break for her mental health, she found herself in Mount Hyjal, and this is where Myrdias finally returned to her.

Except… he wasn’t the same man he was when they departed eight months earlier. His aura was darker, more jaded, and his eyes no longer glowed the bright green natural to the Sin’dorei. Instead, they pulsed an unknown combination of blue and green, the blue possessed by the Lich King’s death knights. In addition, a voice spoke to her telepathically, a female’s voice that she had never heard before. As they took solace in the high branches of Nordrassil, Myrdias removed his armor, exposing his once perfect flesh to be marred with scars, one in particular upon his left breast, blackened with evil.

I died in Icecrown, Saidrym. She remembered him telling her. She cried fiercely at the realization. The blue eyes, the scar, his death. She knew that he was no longer a servitor of the Light like she, but a death knight, damned to undeath for as long as he existed. She was upset, empty, hollow, disappointed because she knew this wouldn’t have happened if she had been there, and betrayed, hurt, and angered by this unknown female voice that helped tell Myrdias’ story. As the tale unfolded, she learned the voice was Myrdias’ rune blade, and that Myrdias was the first and only hybrid of paladin and death knight, thanks to the blessing of the Naaru, A’dal. Myrdias had been brought back to life, but some aspects of his unlife lingered. It was a fact of life that Saidrym constantly tried to cope with, and at times, failed miserably.

As they arrived in Silvermoon City, she was fast asleep. Myrdias slowly slipped off the drake and caught her in his arms, carrying her into their seldom-used apartment. He gently took off her clothes and laid her in their bed. He stripped out of his clothes as well and lay beside her, stroking her hair and face, caressing her body softly, and exploring all her injuries she had sustained since he had been gone, which amounted to more than he expected.

She’s been careless without me here… I can’t imagine by choice, but more accidental recklessness… I don‘t know why she didn‘t chose to heal these herself… He sighed and muttered a few words. His hand glowed brightly and the wounds healed over. He slid down into the bed, taking her into his arms, falling asleep as deeply as she.

The next thing she knew, she was stirring in her bed with Myrdias snuggling her close to him. It had been too long since she could lie in his arms, she thought. Slowly, she crept out of bed and pulled on a simple white gown and slippers, wrapped her head and hair up in a white scarf, and made her way out into the city to find breakfast for them. The sunlight shone brightly in her eyes as she stepped into the street. She breathed in deeply, savoring the fresh air, tinged with salt from the nearby sea. The city emanated magic, and she took a moment to take in her surroundings and enjoy it; it felt like it had been ages since she visited her home. As she walked through the streets and toward the grocer, she saw a woman with a young child beside her and large bump on her torso. Pain gripped at her heart as she held her basket tightly.

To want something I can never have… She thought to herself, pushing back the tears. She softly touched her own stomach in yearning as she watched the woman. There was something familiar about her; she just couldn’t place it. Saidrym browsed the fruits and vegetables, placing a few items in her basket.

Bloodmaster Xaebel…? A small, female voice called out. Saidrym jerked her head up, pulling her scarf around her face tighter, and looked around. The woman that Saidrym had been eyeing was calling her. Bloodmaster Luna, right? The woman walked over to her and Saidrym slowly let her scarf loosen.

May I ask who you are?

Xelika Maernrae, wife of Aelemar Maernrae. You instructed him while you served here in the Blood Knight order. I would never forget you; your presence is quite commanding. Aelemar always said that about you… Are you still a Blood Knight? I haven’t seen you for some time. And what of your mate, Sol? Saidrym shifted her weight. She had not expected someone to remember her from her days of being a Blood Knight, let alone by her alias. She opened her mouth to speak, and then closed it quickly before thinking over her words.

Yes, I remember him and you both. I see that you have children now; that’s joyous to know. And no, I’m not a part of the Blood Knights any longer. Sol and I were both honorably discharged over a year ago to pursue our own interests. She kept up the performance; she couldn’t risk anyone knowing that they had gone by fake names; that information could fall into the wrong hands. How is Aelemar doing? I imagine you’ve seen him recently. She smirked and gestured to Xelika’s stomach. The woman blushed deeply.

He’s doing well, helping in the Firelands. I haven’t heard from him in a few months though. I’m due in the next month; I wish he could be here for his birth. She rubbed her bump tenderly and smiled. Saidrym bit her tongue, forcing her jealousy back. She stepped forward and placed her hand on the woman’s stomach.

Tae ci shi shaeraer. The woman smiled widely. "I know it’s not much, but my blessing is all I can give. I must be off now
