Chapter One

The sound of the two horses pulling the wagon disrupted the calm and peace of the dawn. The coachman guided the horses through the empty city roads onto the beaten path in the forest. As it was a winter morning, theirs was the only wagon on the route, which made the passengers wary.

Are you sure about this route, sir? One of the four passengers, Anna, said.

Oh yes, madam. I've been using it for years now. The coachman, John, replied.

Anna continued to look out of the window, not assured by the coachman's answer. The horses slowed down a little upon entering the forest as it got foggier and chillier with every passing second.

It looks like it's a path that's not used often that's covered with these damp leaves as no one walked here for ages, Anna said.

Smith looked out of the window as Anna pointed out. He nodded.

You're right. It looks a little creepy. Smith said. Thank God, the sun is coming. I wouldn't want to travel through this jungle in the dark.

Nor would I. Emma went on.

Same, Frank added.

Oh! You need not fear anything. I have been using this route for a long time now. John said. You can rest assured.

John's voice was rather deep and gave the passengers a little assurance and helped them relax. The horses galloped through the forest carrying the wagon making a sound similar to a marching regiment, a fast marching regiment.

Emma, who sat on the left side of the wagon, noticed something unusual from the window. She held Frank's hand and squeezed it out of fear, still looking out of the window.

What... is that? Emma said, looking towards the left. All three of them joined Emma and stared out of the window trying to get a sense of what it was. They could see the shaking bushes and plants, but couldn't figure out the cause behind it, until moments later. Out of the last bush came two white-looking people. It looked like they were painted white and didn't wear anything.

As they ran and came close towards the wagon, their private parts could be seen dangling in all directions. It was embarrassing for the ladies in the wagon to watch it, but it also amused them at the same time. They couldn't help but give out a small laugh. Before they had time to laugh any longer, they realized that the two men were running in the direction of their wagon and the widened mouths contracted just as quickly. It may have taken the two men another two of three seconds, and they smashed right into the wagon itself, knocking it down as they collided with it. The horses continued to pull the fallen wagon for a few seconds before losing their balance and falling as well.

When Emma opened her eyes, she found herself lying over Frank who had a tense face, squinting to make sense of what had just happened. Emma looked to her left, Anna laying over Smith in a similar position to hers. She tried to stand up but could not. She called out for John, who replied that he too was caught in a position and could not stand up.

Hardly ten seconds would have passed, and they heard a bang on the wood of the wagon, and then another and one more followed. Emma saw the door of the wagon being pulled off, and she could see the white men standing on top of the fallen wagon. Emma screamed as loud as she could as she saw one of those white men bend down and enter the wagon. Their private parts scared the wits out of her that looked funny a minute ago.
