Dedication
This Study Guide is dedicated first to the Jew and Gentile believer and then to all of you who are seeking a relationship with Jesus Christ through His Word. My desire is that the information provided here will bring an understanding of our inheritance in Christ Jesus, passed on from generation to generation. I pray that this will encourage you, become instrumental in putting you in remembrance of what Christ has done for us and what He is doing today.
These selected chapters and verses are highlighted from the New King James Bible (NKJV) and show the intricate framework as to how the Lord God has intertwined His love with our humanity. It is a guide (only) which emphasizes some of the favorite key chapter and verses that will serve to motivate you, provide a new mindset as well as uplift your spirit.
To those of you who desire to be ready to give an answer for the hope that is within you as it relates to your salvation, this Biblical Constitutional Study Guide is provided by sections to locate a word on the subject quickly and to help you effectively communicate the Word of truth to others.
In addition, to fully embrace the scriptures, my suggestion is to go back (when in question) and read the chapter and verse(s) in context. Hopefully, this will assist in acquiring a much more comprehensive view of the Word. After you have read this book, I hope you conclude that the Word of God is about being in a love relationship with the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the precious Holy Spirit.
My continual prayer is that everyone who journeys through this Study Guide will become better equipped to represent the Kingdom of God and to proclaim His Word throughout the land. Furthermore, I desire that your heart is enriched and that you will pass this on to everyone who has ears to hear.
Acknowledgments
I want to first thank TBN and Trilogy Christian Publishing for this opportunity to have my work published, in belief that it will reach those who need a fresh word and a unique way of hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is my first book and a subject that I care so much about. It is an overwhelming desire of mine to try and explain the difference between church life and kingdom life. Just in case anyone else out there has experienced this as being your dilemma, I hear you, and I do understand. There is so much more to learn about this subject, and I will continue to do the necessary research that will help to broaden my perspective as well as others.
During my time of reading motivational books by well-known authors on the kingdom of God or listening to many great church leaders on CDs or on DVDs, I have found that the most reliable resource for me to meditate on is the Bible, which we call the Word of God. It is through the scriptures that I have become enlightened and can now discern more clearly my purpose for living. In my search for truth, I discovered that even if I have an occasional encounter with an individual or interact with people I see every day, both are key to my development. It is through these experiences I have come to understand who I am and who I am not.
I am thankful for every life experience that has propelled me into my destiny. Based on my faith and relationship with the Lord, these are things I have come to believe over time. All of the ups and downs I have experienced or will experience in life had to go through or will go through the hands of the Creator first. He is who will weigh each situation or circumstance beforehand to determine if it will hinder me from reaching my destiny. He alone knows what each of us can handle and has insight regarding our limitations. This is the reason we are to pray each day for His direction and guidance before making decisions that are contrary to His will.
According to Psalm 139:16, it reveals the God of heaven had written a book about our lives before we arrived here on earth. Also, in Ephesians 1:11, it explains that He is the God who works after the counsel of His own will. Because of this, I now have the desire to know Him more deeply and to acquaint myself with what He has purposed for my life.
To my parents, I thank you for all you have done to nurture and provide for me. To my mother, thank you for introducing me to the Word of God in my childhood. Thank you, father, for bringing in the needed resources each day and working hard to provide for all twelve children. Even though they both have gone home to be with the Lord, they were gifts from above. To the church of my youth and to all the saints who have fought the good fight of faith, thank you.
To my sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, and close friends in the faith, I praise God for you. To my immediate family, which are my sons and daughter, you have been my motivation. You have kept me encouraged and are there for me when I call. To my late husband, who was my partner in life for many years. I know you are home in heaven, but I want to say thank you for the love you have given me and our children. You have been my inspiration, but more importantly, thank you for the times you reminded me of the victories we shared together in Christ.
Introduction
As citizens in the western world, many of us have been brought up with a democratic mentality that has influenced our decision-making process. Some of our values and belief systems grew out of our interpretation of the Constitution, which was masterfully crafted by our founders. On the one hand, it is seen as the greatest experiment of all times. On the other hand, we have become a target for hard criticism by other nations when we do not live up to what we say we represent.
At times we find ourselves as a country having to walk a thin line for the sake of remaining a shining light for all the world to see. For example, within our democratic process, our nation has established rights that are blanketed with godly overtones. This may be the main reason our Constitution has stayed in tack thus far. Within it, it has legitimized the freedom of speech for its citizens, which our government has sworn to protect. The Bill of Rights, which are Amendments to the Constitution, has given each citizen in right standing the privilege of capitalizing on their right to vote. These rights are to be cherished by us because there are citizens in other countries who are not privy to be partakers of what we inherently possess.
Some may say freedom is an illusion. Others may see freedom as a choice one makes within. Nevertheless, it is the responsibility of everyone to learn to protect what freedoms they have been given. Within our government, the people have the freedom to vote into office one who they believe will represent them well and resolve pertinent issues. Or one who will make improvements within their congressional districts to elevate the people’s economic status. Many governments strengthen their nation’s productivity for the purpose of competing on the global stage. Other governments may make laws that are controlling and impede their citizen’s wealth.
Well, the kingdom of heaven is different. The King in this domain has a governmental structure, where He is not voted into, and His Word is the law. He is the eternal King, the Creator of all things, and has our best interest in mind. His government was the first government established in the earth realm and entrusted to mankind. He has a purpose for creating the universe, which He reveals within his Word. If you study an earthly kingdom, you will see that a king is authorized to make decrees at his discretion. He is born into royalty through his inheritance and understands the decrees he makes are unchangeable, as they too become law. Traditionally, the goal of most kings is to lavishly provide for their citizens and to flaunt their riches in front of other kings and before dignitaries as well…when the opportunity presents itself.
Generally, the problem we face when reading the Bible is the way we try and interpret it. We may find ourselves trying to understand it through western eyes. We need a mental paradigm shift when that happens. The Bible is an eastern book, and it has a different mindset with connotations that conflict with our democratic stance. That is why we need books to translate words we do not immediately grasp or use within our republic. The Bible is mainly about a King who redeems and restores His citizens. In fact, the kingdom that Jesus brought to earth did not incorporate a religion but a government. I know that is hard to swallow, but it is true. He was about bringing heaven to earth the way His father desired, which Matthew, Chapter 6, explains.
Even though heaven is in the unseen realm where God dwells, it is a real place. According to Romans, Chapter 1, the invisible world is the dominant and eternal world. But the natural world is temporal. God wanted to be made known and took the liberty to reveal aspects of Himself through His creation. Hebrews 11:3 explains how God first framed the world in the invisible realm before it appeared in the natural. The first Adam was created to manifest the kingdom of heaven on earth through the Holy Spirit. When he sinned, he lost that ability to do so, and because of his disobedience, his actions declared independence from heaven’s government. Satan then began to rule the world through darkness. That is why we need the Word of God in our lives, which directs and reposition us before Him, based on righteousness and truth.
As a result of the disconnect between heaven and earth, many religions have come into existence all around the world. Religion is man’s ongoing attempt to please their god(s). Some cultures have more gods than others, but all desire to find ways to be pleasing to them. The living God knew that we could not attain to His standard of righteousness on our own, so part of the Godhead agreed to come to earth and
