PREFACE
Writing this poetry collection was hard.
A memoir is best defined as a collection of memories (or the retelling of an event) that has enough bearing on someone's life that they felt the need and desire to tell other people. Memoirs oftentimes have more impact than autobiographies because of their brevity and poignancy. They have a focus. They offer some kind of clarity. Each story, or moment, is carefully chosen to deliver an audience one message, much like each finger is carefully curled to deliver one punch. I believe that I succeeded in delivering that punch. Sometimes, it was an unwanted jab straight to my gut. At other times, it was a mighty blow to the heaviest burdens I was still choosing to carry around.
