Permission to Practise - Gayla Maxwell
EACH DAY I
REMEMBER...
WHAT I THINK MATTERS
WHAT I SAY MATTERS
WHAT I DO MATTERS
I MATTER.
Some things to remember, over and over and OVER again…
You might discover I repeat myself. Know why? Because that’s life. Life just keeps repeating the same messages over and over and over again until we graduate to the next message, which of course will also play out over and over and over again. Know why? Because we forget.
That was one of, (amoungst several) lessons I didn’t actually take to all that kindly, however once I accepted it, life got a lot easier.
So with that in mind, I’m more than happy to share with you a few shortcuts. I’ve listed eleven things that are easy to forget, yet are essential to ongoing commitment to giving ourselves permission to grow-up guilt free and have the life we came here to live.
1
I am more than I currently remember
We are all more than we can possibly imagine, regardless of how many self-help courses and/or books we have absorbed, or how many years of therapy we have or have not undergone.
If there was nothing left to discover about who we are, what would be the point of this whole exercise called life? Surely we could be somewhere else…a place where everyone admires and respects everyone else and lives in complete harmony, each person contributing their natural gifts! I’m sure that’s where I’d choose to be if I didn’t have a few more lessons to learn.
2
I give myself Permission to be healthfully self-indulgent!
It is the kindest thing you can do for the world. As we allow ourselves to be all that we are, we give others Permission to do the same. We will naturally feel less judgmental toward others as we understand our own need to live life in accordance with our true selves. Others may not always like it. That has nothing to do with us. In fact it is none of our business! It is part of their journey, their judgment and their choice to give away their power to someone else’s
