FINAL THOUGHTS
INTRODUCTION
People have been contemplating the purpose of life for as long as there has been human life. Common themes include: make the world a better place to live; leave a legacy for generations to come; be as happy as you can be for as long as you can; you only live once - make it a good one; make others happy; make sure that you don’t make the world or any part of it worse than when you entered this world; always consider the greater good, and so on. Most of these purposes include themes which deal with self-gratification or happiness, the happiness of others or to care for the physical world so that future generations will also be able to experience personal gratification or happiness.
This book acknowledges all of the above views, not as an end to themselves, but rather as a vehicle to the ultimate purpose of life. The purpose of life from a Christian perspective is to bring your soul back to God. I do not apologize for the religious connotations. In fact, divine intervention is a major motivation for writing this book. The content of this book is also filled with divine wisdom, but not the whole book! There is only one being that has ultimate and total divine wisdom, and that is God. I am not God. All of us have partial and incomplete wisdom, a gift from Him who has total wisdom. We gain Wisdom through reflection, prayer and most of all - listening to what God is telling us. He is continuously speaking to us, but we only listen a fraction of the time. I pray that I am listening close enough to what God is saying so as to write down the messages that God would like me to convey to others. I know that I am not relaying the whole truth. But I hope that I have at least part of the message correct. I profess that part of what is in this book is correct; the rest is my human stubbornness and lack of knowledge or wisdom which prevents me from presenting more of the correct interpretation of what God is telling me. My interpretation of what God is telling me may be flawed at times, for I am human and still have much to learn. I am a Christian in training, and every day I become wiser and more knowledgeable and hopefully closer to bringing my soul back to God.
Why do we have so many religions? Within each religion we have many sects or denominations. Almost every religion professes to be divinely inspired. Even though there are similarities between religions, the differences cause enough tension that people will kill other human beings who disagree with their interpretation of divine revelation. People who profess to be peaceful people, following a loving God, will go to war in order to force others to believe what they think is true! Father opposes son, brother opposes sister, all in the name of God, and the need to be right. The need to be right often has us use God as a justification for our actions, even though our interpretation may be wrong.
This book is not meant to be an advice column. Neither is this book meant to be an instruction manual. This book is meant to stimulate personal reflection of the reader so that, after prayer, they would be able to modify the contents of this book to more accurately describe specifically what God is telling them. Correctness is measured by how close the interpretation of what an individual thinks God is saying resembles what God is really saying. Without reflection (or prayer), we cannot listen to what God is saying (or any other person for that matter). We hear, but we do not listen until we process the information and have it make sense in our own reality. When people talk we hear words. Upon reflection on what they have communicated, we see that the individual is exposing to us, who they really are; the words take on meaning. God speaks to us in many ways. We cannot ignore the fact that God is continuously communicating with us. However when we do not process the information God has given to us, we lose the opportunity that God is giving us to get to know Him. It’s like hearing the sound of another person’s words - without reflecting on the meaning of those words, it’s just noise. Life is so busy that we do not make the time to hear what others are really telling us, and this goes for what God is telling us as well. When our children speak to us, we hear them but are so busy in transporting them to their next activity or focusing on our own activities, but we don’t listen. Both parents may be working so they can pay for all of the activities that they participate in, that even though they occupy the same space, they don’t listen to what their kids are really telling them. We treat God the same way. No! We often ignore God even more than we do our loved ones, for the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and God is not squeaky, but often subtle in how He tries to communicate with us. At the end of the day we are too tired to reflect on what really happened during the day, and without reflection we miss the true meaning of what God is trying to tell us.
When we speak with our spouses, we often give them a moment in time. But that moment is a very short, fleeting moment. All too soon we dismiss what our spouses are trying to tell us and go on to other more important
parts of life. To listen is to hear and then to interpret what we have heard. To listen is to reflect on not only what was said but why it was said, and why it was said to me. A person crying for help speaks. Those who hear and do not listen may lose a suicidal friend whose words and behaviors are really just a cry for help. In hindsight we can look back and see that the person who committed suicide was telling us all along that they were in pain, but we were too busy to notice, even though the signs were very clear.
We often view elderly people as being wiser than younger individuals. God does not only give the gift of wisdom to those with grey hair, but to all people regardless of age. The difference is that many elderly individuals are often less busy than their younger counterparts and thus spend more time reflecting on what they have heard, rather than dismissing what has been communicated, and going on to the next activity. Having the time to reflect is not in itself good enough to truly understand what another is telling us. Reflection requires a conscious effort to interpret what has been said. Day dreaming is not reflecting. Reflection is also not a debate with oneself. When reflecting, one does not take sides or argue a point of view. Reflection is what occurs prior to developing an opinion. Too many people do not reflect, and thus take on the opinions of others. By taking on the opinion of others without reflection, we are not seeing the world through our own eyes! In this book the terms listen
and reflect
will be synonymous, and are defined by the process of making an effort to understand the meaning of another person’s communication.
To conclude this introduction, we have two major points to ponder:
The purpose of this book is to stimulate the reader to reflect on what is said, and then to correct what was written. To identify those parts of the text that accurately communicate what God is telling us, and to identify those parts that are not as accurate. Unfortunately I do not know which parts of this book are lacking in accuracy, only that there are both right and wrong statements and thoughts portrayed in this book.
The title Bring your Soul Back to God
implies that once upon a time our souls have already been with God, and the most important part of life is to bring our soul back to where it belongs. The second most important thing in life after bringing your soul back to God is to bring as many others with you as you can
. Everything else in life, everything, is meant to help us achieve these goals.
CHAPTER 1
DEFINING INFINITY
We say that god is infinite. What does infinite mean? The answer is difficult to comprehend in a world that is finite, and with beings that think finitely. Since this chapter deals with infinity it may be difficult to read. If you find this is the case then please go directly to Chapter 2, as the discussion is very philosophical. The rest of the book will still make sense if you skip this chapter.
The term infinity is very similar to omnipotence (a term frequently used to describe God). Omnipotent means to know everything, past, present, and future. For God to know everything that has ever occurred means that He has had to have existed before anything happened. (Throughout this book we will use the traditional gender (masculine) to describe God. There is only one way that a being can exist before anything happened and that is that the being would have always had to be, or had no beginning. Logic tells us that to be first means that there was a time when there was nothing. We know that nothing comes from nothing, and that in order for there to be something, it has to come from something. God always was. Everything has its origins in God.
In order for God to be omnipotent, He needs to know what is happening in the present, thus God continues to exist. In other words God was, and God is. If we add in the future tense, we can finish off the definition of omnipotence by saying that God will always be. In order to be omnipotent God was, is and will be!
There are only two ways that someone can know the future. The first way that a person can know the future is that they have already been in the future. The second is that the future is predetermined and they know what will happen because it is predetermined. The second way implies that we are robots; nothing we do can change what will happen or where we are going. Experience (life) tells us that every choice that we make has a consequence. The consequences are different depending on the choices that we make. If we believe in the freedom of choice, the future is not predetermined. Because of freedom of choice, every decision that we make will impact the future, meaning that the future is not predetermined. If the logic is correct thus far, the only way that God can know the future is that He has already been there. To already have been in the future means that God is greater than the three dimensional world that we live in. In other words, God transcends time. Time is called the 4th dimension by many scholars. Because God transcends time, He always was, is and always will be.
Infinity not only transcends time, but infinity also means that there is no room for anything else because infinity takes up the entire space
. If there was something beyond what we call infinity, then what we have called infinity is not infinity. In other words, if God is infinite then there can be nothing more. Infinity cannot change, for if it does then it wasn’t infinite to begin with. If God is infinite, then God is not changing. If God is not changing and nothing can be added to infinity, how do we explain creation? Creation means that something exists where previously nothing existed, but the definition of infinity precludes that either creation did not occur or the world always was, which means that it was not created.
There is only one way that something that is infinite (God) can increase or change, and that is to work in a different dimension than where infinity exists. Not only does creation and change have to occur in a different dimension, it needs to occur in a lower dimension than where its creator exists. Since the creator already is infinite, and there is no room for anything else when infinity already occupies a dimension, creation must occur in a lower dimension than infinity, and is not infinite. Perhaps this is why infinity is such a hard concept for us to grasp in our three-dimensional world. It does not exist, but God (infinity) does partially come to visit us in our dimension, and with Jesus, took finite format to live with us for some 30 years.
We cannot compare things from one dimension to another, for the characteristics of the different dimensions are so different that it is impossible to think of one dimension in terms of another. It is possible for more than one dimension to be present at the same time, but not to use one dimension to explain another, especially a lower dimension to explain a higher dimension. Like a computer program, the new program (higher dimension) can read and interpret older programs (lower dimensions). However, a lower dimension cannot interpret the higher dimensional data. A major reason why we have so much trouble comprehending infinity (God) is that we are trying to describe God in a time bound fashion (3D), and God is not time bound. We cannot describe God in any terms other than three-dimensional, for as beings from the third dimension, we are limited by third dimensional thoughts - we are time bound.
Our physical bodies are bound not only by time but by sequential time (first, second, then last, etc.). Our cognitive dimension is still time bound but now it is not necessarily sequential (also not random). Now we can bounce back and forth in time as well as jump back and forth to different locations (memories of childhood or a holiday). We can even try to predict the future (what will happen if…..), even though our prediction may not be accurate and our bodies may never ever enter the cognitive reality.
It seems then that the very first thing that God created was time. In other words God created the fourth dimension! Then within that dimension many other things were created to exist in time. For God to allow new and unique consciousnesses (people) to come into existence, He had to create a lower dimension. For things to exist in a lower dimension, higher dimensions must exist. We cannot have second dimensional things without the third dimension, for the lower dimension must exist within the higher dimension. Higher dimensions have fewer boundaries (restrictions) than the lower dimensions, but there are still boundaries. Only infinity has no boundaries! Things in the second dimension (like a drawing on a piece of paper) can only exist if the piece of paper exists in a higher dimension, the third dimension. And similarly we can only exist in the third dimension because the 4th dimension exists. In summary then, the second dimension (in mathematical terms, this is called plane geometry) can only exist because the third dimension (or space) exists. Space can only exist because the fourth dimension exists, that is time. Time can only exist because the highest dimension, God, exists. What we don’t know, is if the highest dimension is the one after time or there may be several other dimensions that we will not even become aware of until we go into the next dimension which happens at death of the physical body.
Since infinity is as large as you can get in one dimension, and God is the highest dimension, the only way to increase is in a lower dimension. A lower dimension cannot be infinite, for then it will equal the higher dimension, which is impossible. Since infinity does not exist in the third dimension it is only a concept for us. Infinity from another dimension can and does exist concurrently in lower dimensions, but usually as a partial visitor (for if infinity came into our dimension, there would not be room for anything Equo expla vit, atur autem volupis ut harunt atur, nobis explaccus, quid et quodis sinimet reiciusam, eos nis illis in reroribea quiberi ommolor porerum nulles etur adipidi od qui odicae voluptatquis millest, sinveliti doluptatia santis aut event maiorumet od et eveliquo iunt quam fugitisciae nulland isquaecatem aboreperi ute prat aut ma il et et vidi con ea doluptatiis et et quas et, si re natum incid expedis sequod que ma vene pelique voluptatus quamet et ad ut volo tendaerum faci dollab ium aute sedici dolorro cuptatia del expellu ptatia con nis ipienis sus doloriassum eum quid estiis aut erciet optus, temquia sinullibus et essequat.

God is one entity in three persons. We are one entity in three persons, for God made us in His image. These entities are our soul, our mind and our body. The soul transcends time and space, for this is God Himself. The angels, made up of a substance that is time-bound but transcends space, is the same substance that our consciousness is made up of. Finally, the third component of the human being is the physical component, which is time-bound and space-bound. The difference between the angels and our consciousness is that the angel’s consciousness is not housed in a physical body, and thus is not space-bound. The angels, like us, also have part of God within them, and like us are unique beings.
Because the angels are not bound by space they can go (within the confines of time) anywhere in an instant. God transcends both distance and time and thus can be in two places at the same time as well as in two different times. When God created the angels and humans, in order for them to be new and separate entities of value made in His image, they needed to have a free will. Otherwise, they would not be separate entities but merely extensions of Him. God has given to us the
