The primary way that we deepen our relationships is through communication. But as any human knows, communication isn’t always easy — even with the people we love the most! Even in the most respectful and healthy relationships, we will sometimes encounter situations that involve friction. Sometimes, this can take the form of requests or expectations that feel out of alignment with our beliefs or boundaries. Sometimes, it can take the form of conflicting values or opinions. And sometimes, it can involve a serious disagreement about something important. When these situations come up, you have a few choices.Sometimes, “going along to get along” is the right choice.
