    Introduction

The Wisdom of The Word is the second release in a collection of inspired poems that speak to the day-to-day challenges we so often face as believers. The difficulties such challenges bring can often drive many to question their beliefs or even doubt the very existence of God. So many have grown up in a world that speaks out against traditional moral values, and as a result, the basic underlying respect that once existed for the church has significantly diminished. Today we see an open rebellion against values in God’s word and open resentment for those who believe in it. Truth has been replaced with lies, and right has become wrong in a climate where liberalism and self-indulgence have replaced morality and family values as the core values of society today. What once existed only in the undercurrents of metropolitan areas behind closed doors are now paraded down the main streets of major metropolitan areas and small towns alike. And if you dare to speak against them, you are branded a hate monger and bigot by those who themselves have no tolerance for anything but their own opinions. There is no doubt that the challenges we see today are greater than those that existed just a few short years ago. And yet, this should come as no surprise. The Bible is clear in its anticipation of the decay of society as men turn inward away from God, for as Jesus warned his disciples in John 15:18-19, If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. And while this might strike fear in the hearts of some, as believers we can take comfort in that before His departure, He reminds us in the 28th chapter of Matthew, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.

It is always amazing how, where, and when God decides to manifest himself in our lives. I was a believer for many years before I truly came to know him. I, like many people, assumed that God only manifested himself to the heroes of the Bible, and that while he promised to always be with us, it was only in spirit and that I would never know him until that fateful day when called home to stand before the great white throne. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I believe much of this deception is driven by our frame of mind as a result of our experiences in the world before surrendering to Christ. It was not until I was fully willing to bow the knee and offer my life to Him and ask Him to reveal himself to me that He did. And while I would never claim to know the secret to making God reveal himself, I do know that He desires nothing more than an intimate relationship with each and every one of us. Christianity is more than the organized gatherings or religious rituals we perform, though these things do play a key part in the life of a believer, but rather true Christianity is about a developing a personal, intimate relationship with Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit and surrendering to Him as the lord of our lives. You have to make the choice. Only when you are truly willing to seek Him with your whole heart, you will find Him.

This book, like its predecessor, is a collection of inspired poems and related scriptures from the King James Bible reflecting on a few of the life lessons that the Holy Spirit has shared with me. When I speak of pain, difficulties, or sorrow within the poems, these are reflective of the real world experiences that God has taken me through as I walk through life by his side. And while each of these poems may not reach everyone, I have
