The Word That Heals - Fatai Kasali

    CHAPTER ONE

    Wholeness

Luke 17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

A man healed of leprosy came back to Jesus to give thanks and Jesus told him that his faith has made him whole.

What is the meaning of being made whole? This implies that the man has been totally healed. But the man has already been healed by Jesus so what again has Jesus healed in him?

Man is made up of: body, soul and spirit. The soul contains the mind, emotion and the will. A man can be sick in any of the following five branches that make him a complete person: the body, spirit, mind, emotion and will.

    1. Body

Sickness in the body could be caused by infection, accident or malfunctioning of certain body parts.

    2. Mind

A person is sick in the mind if he has lost control of his mind.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

A man is sick in the mind if he has lost the soundness of his mind. That is, his mind can’t rudiment over a matter for quality decision. Some mental problems are due to sickness of the mind.

    3. Emotion

These are feelings. A person is emotionally sick when he or she carries pains of bad treatment from the world through life. If you carry bad memories that influence your reactions towards certain events, it implies you are emotionally sick. If past hurt and disappointment are controlling your present reactions, then you are emotionally sick. The man in

John 5:6-7 expresses pains of disappointment when talking to Jesus. The man was both physically and emotionally sick.

    4. Will

This is the ability to make decisions. A person is sick in his or her will if the person lacks enough strength to make wise decisions. A man is sick in his will if he is unable to resist the pressure from people or easily yields to temptation.

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

The above indicates that something is wrong with the will of some people.

    5. Spirit

A person that has no relationship with Jesus is spiritually sick.

    Wholeness:

When a person is not sick in any of the five branches of man, he has been made whole.

This implies that the man healed of leprosy in Luke 17:19, was made whole. It implies that the man was not only sick in the body but also in some other areas of him as a person. The first healing he received was of the body. That healing was visible to everybody including the man but there were problems with other areas of him as a person, though, the man did not realise this. When he came back to Jesus for thanksgiving, Jesus healed other areas of him that he was not even aware of. This could be in the area of his emotion, mind, will or spirit.

In all the five branches of man, the easiest part that can be healed is the body. Humanity has developed so many medicines and machines that can be used to heal the body. While it is possible to heal some emotional problems through counselling and moral support, some situations are far beyond human capability due to the nature of the complication.

Another limitation of man in healing is that man cannot deal with sickness that has a spiritual dimension such as loss of mental problem or physical sickness that is demonic.

    What can help?

Psalms 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The word of God is a spirit and when it is sent into a place, it causes healing. If you can turn the word of God into prayer and release it into any sick area of yourself, you will be healed. The word of God can reach where no medicine of man can reach. The prayer points inside this book were developed totally from the word of God and as you use them and release them by faith into any sick area of your life, healing will manifest in Jesus name.

    CHAPTER TWO

    What makes Christians sick?

Christians are not supposed to sick under normal conditions. It is contrary to the word of God for a Christian to sick in any of his five branches. For example:

Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The above bible passage shows that Jesus has taken away our sickness and we should not be sick again. Why should a Christian be sick?

There are three things God respects that you must be aware of and these are:

    1. God respects spiritual law:

The spiritual laws are put in position by God to guide the operation of all created things in relation to man. God can set aside natural law (such as the law of Gravity, the law of thermodynamics, the law of motion etc.) but he can’t set aside spiritual law. This means that if a man violates spiritual law, he will face the consequences. This will be dealt with in more details, later in this chapter.

    2. God respects your will:

He will not violate your will. The best God can do is to offer you advice but if you insist, he will let you have your way and face the consequences of your choice.

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live.

In the above verse, God was giving advice to Israelites to choose life. Unfortunately, some of them chose death and die in the wilderness. God will not violate your will. Though, you are a Christian but if you choose death and ignore constant advice of God, your will may prevail. Many Christians have chosen death through their lifestyles and later die either spiritually or physically or both. There are so many good Christians that have chosen sickness through their lifestyle, though unknowingly, but because they continually ignore the advice of God, their choices prevail.

    3. God respects the redemptive works

    Jesus did for humanity:

God will never work against the redemptive works Jesus did for humanity.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

The redemptive work of Jesus was to destroy the works of the Devil. Whatever Jesus has destroyed, God will never resurrect in the lives of His children, for God will never disregard the redemptive works of Jesus Christ. Some of the works of the Devil that Jesus destroyed through the redemptive works include:

    a. Sin

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus has taken away our sins and he has delivered us from the dominion of sin. Therefore, God can never make a man to sin neither will he tempt a man into sin.

    b. Sickness

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Jesus has delivered us from sickness and God can never work against this deliverance. This implies that God can never place sickness on Christians that Jesus has already delivered from it. If anybody tells you that God had made him sick, it is untrue and that should be treated as blackmailing to God. God will never work against what Jesus has done.

    c. Poverty

2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Jesus has delivered us from poverty and God can never work against it. God can never bring poverty on any Christian. Poverty is a curse and God does not associate with curses. If you know any Christians that are poor and glory in it, tell them that God is not happy with their situation because it does not speak well of God when the poor-world sees His children in poverty. Poverty is not of God.

    d. Death

Hebrews 2:14 For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.

Jesus has delivered us from the dominion of death and God can’t bring premature death on Christians. God does not kill his children. He enjoys seeing His children living long. If any Christian dies prematurely, don’t trace it to God. For any Christian to die prematurely, the person might have chosen death unknowingly and made his ‘will’ very strong
