About this ebook

The title I Promise You're Healed was given to me before I wrote any thoughts down to explain it. It was given to me as a promise directly from God to me and has helped me to see from His perspective the reality that is available to all who live in His Kingdom. The grace of God reserves many blessings for all who will receive them by faith. Everything that comes to us by the grace of God must be received by faith, not a manufactured faith, but Jesus's own faith living in us. In this book, I share the timeless lessons that have shaped my life permanently and allowed me to live fearlessly in a world where sin and fear abound. But the grace of God always abounds much, much more!

    About the Author

    Introduction

Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, and good will toward men.

These are the words of a multitude of heavenly hosts, the armies of God praising Him and delivering a message to all of mankind (Luke 2:10–14). In their message, we find good news, joy, and peace. And because of this, we can live fearlessly triumphant over every enemy of God. A very important part of God's package of life is that He has made a way for us to live in perfect divine health all of the days that we are here on earth, for we can live in the kingdom of God on earth (Luke 17:21).

I realize that the enemy of our souls does not want us to experience this good life from God, and he has influenced many people with his resistance to God's message of good news, joy, and peace. Our enemy does not want us to experience the goodness of God. That is why he works so hard to keep people blinded to the truth that God has made this provision for us to be free from all of the devil's tricks.

I believe the best thing for us to do about this is to study God's Word on the subject. Therefore in this work, I will not cite much in the way of all the objections to divine health. I do not claim to have heard them all, nor do I choose to spend much time in them anymore! My desire is to know the truth and to experience it. In order for this to happen, we must go to the only source, and that is God's Word. Within God's Word, the evidence in favor of divine health for all mankind is overwhelming. If you ever hear anyone try to use God's Word to explain away the reality of healing today, then you can be sure that they are twisting the scriptures to get them to say something that God did not intend. You simply cannot make scripture say something that Jesus did not demonstrate. In order for us to rightly divide the Word, we must let the earthly ministry of Jesus be the confirmation in our belief system. The Holy Spirit will not lead you down a different path than what Jesus demonstrated. The real issue at hand is in the personal application of the Word of God. If one doesn't believe in Jesus, they allow the devil to deceive them. If one does not do what the Word says to do, they deceive themselves (2 Cor. 4:4, James 1:22).

One of the problems that occurs in our world is that sickness and disease affect more than just the flesh. When a person experiences sickness or a disease of some kind, they can have a tendency to accept it in their mind and also their spirit. Realizing this, we can see that in order to conquer it effectively we must learn to receive the truth in our spirit and renew our mind to God's Word. Only when we give ourselves completely (spirit, soul, and body) to the truth of God's Word will we be able to leave the sicknesses behind us and walk away from them permanently. The Word of God must be believed and acted on if we are to enjoy the benefits that He has for us. If these two things are done, we have His own promise that success is ours. If anyone does not do both of these things, then we are told to let not that man think that he will receive anything from the Lord (James 1:7–8). A double-minded man is unstable. He does not know what to believe. He is always in confusion, and his speech is filled with words like maybe, whatever will be will be, whatever the Lord wills, or I know God can heal me anytime He wants to, but I'll praise Him even if He doesn't. These phrases may sound wise to some people, but to reject God's Word is not wise. If you are among those who have made one or more of these statements before, realize that there are many of us who have, and there is no condemnation for anyone who is in Christ. Jesus was not sent to condemn the world, but rather the Father sent Jesus so that through Him the world might be saved (John 3:17). There is a way that we can have the assurance of health. We can choose right now to abandon those old religious sayings that deliver no power to overcome evil. We can have discernment of good and evil if we receive with meekness the engrafted Word. Let us begin to see sickness and disease as God sees it. It is evil! We can let God's Word be so much a part of us that we live by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Then we will have life, and we will have it more abundantly.

    Section 1

    I Promise You're Healed

As I sit down on this beautiful August morning with the sun shining into my living room, I begin to write down my thoughts about my Lord and King, Jesus Christ, and what He's done for me. But then, I realize that what He's done for me, He's really done for all! Of all the things that I enjoy about living in His Kingdom—eternal life, intimacy with the Father, abundant life, freedom, peace, joy, and every good thing that can be imagined—all these good things come from the Father to us simply because He loves us.

When a father loves his children, he does everything he can to make his children's lives beautiful. This is certainly the case with our Heavenly Father. He, the omnipotent and self-existent One, has blessed all of mankind for all eternity. He has utterly destroyed the works of the devil. And He has given us a seat in the Heavens and said to us, I promise you're healed! This promise that He has given us is able to fix every problem known to man, yet He gives it to us, not as a promise to do something, but rather that He has already done it. When Jesus said from the cross, It is finished (John 19:30), He testified to this reality that the curse has now been abolished and the redemption of man is complete! For Him to say, I promise you're healed is simply His everlasting promise to us that whatever we need in order to have our joy fulfilled, it's already done. We can take Him at His Word and thus realize all of the blessings of His kingdom. We can enjoy His manifest goodness by simply believing His promise. What Jesus has said to me over the years, He says to you. I promise you're healed.

I first began to study God's Word concerning physical healing in 1992 when my son Joshua was born. My wife and I had been married for two years by that time, and we were blessed by the Lord to have our beautiful baby boy. When he was born, the medical doctors said he had a blood clot on his brain, apnea, and other physical complications. But we had received a prophetic word from our friend and brother Dr. Ronnie Pierce concerning our son before he was even born. The prophecy said that we would have a blond-haired, blue-eyed baby boy, and he would be healthy. At that time, we did not know that God wanted everyone healed and healthy all the time. We did not know that our health was promised in the scriptures. But we had this prophecy of health, and we held onto that. We soon saw Joshua delivered from all infirmity. Today there is no sign of that early struggle, and Joshua is healthy and whole.

Backing up to that time, though, Ronnie would send us little mini-books in the mail on a regular basis, and we would feed our spirits on the truths in them about God's will for our healing, prosperity, protection, and total victory! We also read the monthly publication put out by Kenneth Hagin titled The Word of Faith. We began to see that God had good things in store for all people, and that He was not the cause of destruction. But rather that He had come to destroy the works of the devil. We were being transformed by the renewing of our minds into what God had in store for us, and what He has in store for all who are willing to receive from Him. Our souls were just beginning to prosper in the eternal and unwavering truths of God's Word! The Word that the Lord began to give us came to us as a promise that was much surer to us than the earth beneath our feet. For, surely, there will be a day when all the elements will melt with fervent heat, and God will replace this earth with a new one. But His Word is eternal and never-changing. He began to reveal to us that His love for us was more powerful than any trial that we may be going through at any given time on this earth and that His love makes no provision for our enemy. But He has made every provision for our well-being. He surely has only good things in store for us, and He has already declared to us what is good. So it is no mystery; He promised that we are healed! It's not a promise to heal, but a promise already fulfilled (a quote from Liberty Moe). We are already healed, right now, whether it is manifest or not. It is a spiritual reality that was finished when Jesus said it was.

I want to go on a journey with you through the scriptures to establish this wonderful truth. I look forward to sharing with you what the Lord has shown me about the assurance of His Word. Healing is for the whole person—spirit, soul, and of course, body! I say of course because it is only natural that as our spirit and soul are refreshed in this truth that our bodies will also benefit from it. One cannot separate their body from the realities that they receive in the spirit. When you believe in your spirit that physical healing is yours, the inevitable will happen. Your body will respond affirmatively because God created it to do so.

Of the scriptures that I have to share with you, the one most prevalent is nothing other than Isaiah 53:5, that famous blessing of a verse that says, And with His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53 is the absolute centerpiece of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to us. In this portion of scripture, God reveals to us that He has made a way for us to enjoy all the good things that He has in store for us. They come to us as a very costly gift. It is freely given to us by Him, but it was costly to Him. Do not think that because it is free to you that it is cheap. Free does not mean cheap. The word free has to be qualified! Free to whom? Everything that is labeled free must be paid for. But if it's free to you, then it is paid for by someone else other than you. Someone else pays for it and you get to enjoy it!

In the beginning of time, when God created mankind, He made man in His image and likeness. Man is the only part of creation that is a three-part creature in the same way God is. Man is made up of spirit, soul, and body. Man, because of the spirit, has the ability to believe anything he wants to, and because of the soul, he makes a choice of what he wants to believe, and because of the body, he can act out or make manifest the fact that he believes it. None of this indicates that what he believes is true, but only that he believes it to be true. No other creature on earth can do all of that. The things that man is capable of are much more glorious than all the other creatures of the earth because he is created and made in the image of God. The human spirit has been gifted with the ability to house a measure of God's power, and that is different than the abilities of all other creatures. When a man makes a moral decision to believe every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, he is given an extra boost of power directly from God, namely the power to be quickened in spirit, soul, and body. The spirit of man is the creative part of man while the soul is the part of man that is responsible for making choices, and the body is simply the servant of the soul. Whatever your soul decides, your body will do its best to perform, and your spirit will enable your body to do it. This is why we need the prevailing Spirit of Christ in us to enable us to do the otherwise impossible.

There is nothing impossible where the Spirit of Christ is free to reign. Our spirits have the potential to house the power of God when we are joined to Christ. He also quickens our mortal flesh. Our only step is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. This means that we confess Him as our Lord and believe that the Father raised Him from the dead (both spiritually and physically). This is the very first demonstration of the faith of Jesus Christ in us. The faith of Jesus always believes God's Word.

Jesus said along with Moses, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matt. 4:4, Deut. 8:3). The kind of faith that God is looking for is not bigger faith or more faith, but rather it is aligned faith! When we align our faith with what He has said, that is when we agree with Him! This is the faith that God is looking for, the faith that agrees with Him. Our whole job, if you want to call it that, is to believe what He says. And even that is not something that can be manufactured by us, for Jesus said, This is the work of God that you believe on Him whom He hath sent (John 6:29).

So we see that when we let God be true in our lives and discard everything else—that this is the faith of Jesus. And that is what God is looking for. It's not as though we have nothing to do with it at all, for we must permit it. God will never override our will. We must let it happen as He desires it to happen. That is, that we must let Him teach us His ways. And when we do, then the desires of our heart will be organically met; meaning, that they will grow out of the abundance of our hearts as naturally as all of creation was designed to do.

The purpose of this book is not to teach the reader to pray for healing because healing is not something that happens when we pray for it. Rather the purpose of this book is to inform the reader that the healing of the whole world is something that happened when Jesus, Himself, was healed. That's right. Jesus purposefully suffered a blow that literally killed Him. The iniquity of us all was laid on Him by the Father, and He suffered His fatality under the curse. But the Father would not allow Jesus to suffer forever. He was determined to deliver Jesus once and for all. Jesus had to be healed. But in order for Jesus to be healed, the Father had to release healing to the whole world simultaneously. This became the new mandate when Jesus took on the sin of the world in order to take it away from us. The stripe that He bore in our place made Him sick beyond human recognition, and He had to be healed of that.

This is why the scripture from Isaiah declares that with His stripe we are healed. You could say it this way, Along with the healing of His stripe, we, also, are healed of our wounds. Later, Peter refers to this passage when he declares that we were healed (1 Pet. 2:24). The truth is that the whole world was healed at the same time of every disease known to man. It is through Jesus Christ that universal healing came into being, and now it is received individually at will. It is always God's will for all to receive, and when we agree with Him, then is when we activate our will and bring it into alignment with His will. The will of man must be involved because faith, though it is a spiritual force, cannot override your will. You must choose what you will believe. God will not override your will, and you cannot believe beyond what you are willing to accept.

This is why we must make a decision to believe what God says about everything and refuse to believe anything else. Pure, untainted faith is faith that refuses to listen to anything that disagrees with what God has said. Have you heard some bad news? Throw it away! God has already spoken. You are delivered from the curse. Therefore, every evil thing is something that you are delivered from. As this relates to our health, we must take every word and stand it up next to what God has said. There are many scriptures in your Bible that can be
