About this ebook

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding jobs anyone could have.

One of my favorite bible verses Psalms 127:3-5:
Children are our heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the
womb is his reward. As arrows in the hand of a mighty man; so
are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver
full of them

    Foreword

Being a mom is never an easy job, and though it is very often an underrated one, the rewards are priceless. Warrior Moms is something every woman should read; moms, moms to be, grandmothers, and mothers of the gospel. Having read the book cover to cover and having experienced the deep feeling of refreshing in the end as it ministered to the mother in me, I consider it a real honor to be asked to write the foreword.

I have been blessed to experience the joys of motherhood and each day I am thankful for the opportunity to be a mom. Even in the trying times, I try to be the best mother I can be, but I also draw inspiration from other mothers, like my own mom, Bishop Maureen Bailey, and my eldest sibling, my big sister Carone Gordon. I can hardly think of a more appropriate author for this kind of inspiration. Carone has not just written out of her undying love for people, and her constant desire to minister life to others, but she has also written out of her unconditional love for her own children. I have watched her love them, care for them and fight for them, and I know in the end she will win.

    —Keisha Ann Thomas

    Preface

I am eternally grateful to God, Who is Master of my life. I thank Him for the gift of motherhood. And to my wonderful husband, Carlos, who fathers my children Deborah, Gabrielle, and Carlos, I say, Thank you.

The joys of motherhood and its challenges are compacted in this one book. The levels of fight and struggle as you set a spiritual watch over them are spelled out. This book stands as a source of encouragement. It serves to remind moms our task is at times as challenging as it is beautiful.

How could I do this without the cheers of my three sisters, my ever loving parents, and of course my friend, Michelle Leung, who supports me in ministry as a tower of strength.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

    Prologue

*Parents* of troubles kids are not the problem, they are the *solution.*

    — James Lehman

Oftentimes I watch the news and hear something really atrocious — another school shooting, another runaway kid, another child who stole the car keys and met with an accident. Yet another child snuck out at night and ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time, got shot, or maybe got arrested because of something his or her group of friends did.

We live in a society where more often than not, it’s difficult to make ends meet. Parents work two or three jobs to meet the bills. Single moms struggle to even provide meals.

It’s like the world is spinning out of control, and holding on to anything other than faith you’re sure to fall.

With parents being away so much, kids are often left unsupervised and get caught in a web of who-knows-what to keep them occupied as parents work to keep the family from homelessness.

It’s not easy for families in today’s society. Raising kids, the most rewarding job ever, is also very challenging today with all the negative influences around.

Sadly, many kids are hooked on pornography, which also leads to a whirlwind of problems and potential issues.

So as parents carry on their daily activities they have to do so with the sword in hand, ready to combat the enemy of their souls, to stave off the attacks and guard the minds of their kids and the morals they try so hard to instill in them.

Often, when I see the atrocities and read the comments, there is almost always endless blaming of parents.

I do agree that responsibility must be shared, but in order to help children today we must see parents as the solution, not as the problem.

    Parents are the
