Yawning, Elizabeth Darcy stretched her arms over her head, wiggling her toes beneath the warm sheets as her abigail pulled back the drapes to allow light to flood the room. The sun was particularly bright, as it was wont to be in early spring.

Spring had technically not yet arrived, but Lizzy wished it to be so because then, she could venture out of doors. It was not that Pemberley was a bore or anything of that sort, but she did so wish to take a stroll around the grounds. She wanted to allow herself to breathe in the fresh air and take the sun on her skin.

Said sun was deceptive in its brightness, however; the air was as yet still cold despite it. In fact, as she pushed up on her elbows to peer out the large windows, she found herself pouting just a bit.

Anna, her abigail, chuckled as she brought her dressing gown around for her to slip into. Whyever are you pouting, Mrs. Darcy?

Just wishful thinking and vain attempts to cheer myself. I do so desire to go out of doors soon.

Well, it’s not so cold out today, Anna replied. It’s not warm enough to spend the entire day in the gardens, but I’m sure you and Miss Georgiana could go out for a few hours at least.
