Too many times we see marriage as wholeness and singleness as a curse.

 

There are too many extremes when it comes to the understanding of singleness.....one exteme is that single people are automatically lonely and depressed people....and the other is single people are self centered individuals who feel like they need no one..

 

Little girls are prepped from their birth for marriage as if that's all they were created for..

 

Singleness is preached in the church as if it's a sickness and the cure is marriage..

 

We have been programmed for too long to see singleness as a curse due to our lack of understanding of what singleness actually is and the gift of it..

 

Do you know that singleness is a gift?

Singleness is at many times seen as the stage one is in before you get married, and too many times, this understanding of singleness has many ascribing loneliness to singleness and having this false belief that one is incomplete until they become married.

This mindset is preached in society, churches, and even amongst peer groups to the point that many would rather enter an abusive relationship or get married for societal acceptance than to remain single.

Singleness is not taught effectively, and it shows. Many have a false understanding of singleness. When someone says, I’m single, we automatically think about two different extremes: one, that person is lonely, has no friends and no one wants them, or they don’t want to date anyone; two, that person is too consumed with themselves that they’re too busy for someone else; and both perspective are wrong.

Singleness is now seen as the opposite of wholeness. We believe that when one is married or in a relationship, they are closer to wholeness than a single person and that could not
