What! Hell no! That can’t be possible! Margaret said as she read through the sack letter that was handed over to her as she was getting to the office. She couldn’t believe her boss would fire her without any reason. She wondered how low he would sink with his selfishness. She needed an explanation and was determined to get one.

Where is the boss? Margaret said with pent-up anger for her boss. Sandra, the receptionist who had given her the letter blankly stared at her before she said;

He is in his office.

Okay, Margaret said as she picked her bag, which she had dropped on the receptionist table while she was fuming.

No, it can’t be, Margaret muttered as she stared at the letter in her hand and marched towards her boss’s office. She reached the entrance of his office in no time and pushed the door open without knocking. She was too pissed to bother about the formality of doing that. Who the hell does he think he is? Margaret thought to herself as she stared at her boss, who was sitting behind the mahogany desk.

You can’t barge into my office just like that, Kelvin Barry her boss, fired as he raised his head from studying the file before him.

I received this a while ago, and I want to believe this is a mix-up of some kind, Margaret said as she raised the letter in her hand and moved closer to where Mr. Barry is.

Who was the letter addressed to? Her boss asked as his eyes returned his attention to the file he had been studying.

It was addressed to me, Margaret said as she frowned.

Good. Why do you think it’s a mix-up? Mr. Barry asked as he stared at her.

Can you please explain this, sir? Margaret asked as she dropped the letter on his desk.

Explain what? Her boss asked as he stared at her.

I told HR to send that to you. I’m sure they made it self-explanatory, Mr. Barry said.

You fired me! Margaret exclaimed as she couldn’t control her anger anymore.

Why do you raise your voice at me? Mr. Barry said through gritted teeth as he glared at Margaret. Margaret tried to calm herself by regulating her breathing.

Can you please explain what this is all about? I’ve been carrying out my duties as expected. I’m always punctual, and I’ve had a clean record for the past five years I’ve worked with you, Margaret said as she lowered the tone of her voice.

All that doesn’t matter to me, Mr. Barry said as he shrugged before he stood.

I told you I could ruin your career for life, Mr. Barry said as he walked to where Magaret was and lowered his face towards hers.
