    Patchouli is a short-day plant and is shade-loving. It grows well under partial shade conditions. The plant is a perennial, small bushy herb with branched stems. The plant reaches up to a height of about one meter upon full growth.

    It is tropical in growth habit. It is commercially cultivated for its highly fragrant leaves which yield famous patchouli oil under steam distillation process.
