Many of his clients at the clinic were from the business community. As he worked with these clients they disclosed to him and themselves their own misgivings and vulnerabilities. Alexander saw the tremendous stress and anxiety individuals were facing in the workplace: “It was obvious to me that a deep sense of spirituality was needed in the workplace and hence the creation of Spiritualize the Workplace.”Alexander offers meditation classes based on his book Spiritualized Meditation, and offers lectures and workshops on color, stress management and opening the heart.Alexander, a certified Spiritual Director, graduated from the University of British Columbia’s Pacific Jubilee Program at the Vancouver School of Theology. He is also a graduate of Tyndale University with the degree bachelor of Religious Education. He has practiced meditation and yoga since his twenties and, in young adulthood, spent a nine-month period of seclusion in the Rocky Mountains. At 24, he became a monastic in Paramahansa Yogananda’s Spiritual Organization (Self-Realization Fellowship), dedicating his life in the search for God. He continues to faithfully practice Paramahansa Yogananda’s life transforming meditation techniques to this day.“I have been fortunate to have touched the lives of thousands through my books, music and workshops. Many have said my gentle approach makes it easy for them to feel safe and open to their highest potential...My mission is to help others rediscover their diamond essence and from that inner center meet all life’s difficulties with courage, love, peace and joy.”Check out alexmeditation.com to learn more.

    Acknowledgments

First of all, I would like to thank Jesus Christ, for without His inspiration and messages, this book would not be possible. My deepest appreciation also goes out to the Angel that Christ sent to me. Without her appearance and encouraging words, this book would never have been written.

George Johnston, I thank you for your editing and revisions in this new edition of Conversations with Christ. Your suggestions and additional content have enhanced the book tremendously.

Mother, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your belief in me and your encouragement to publish this book.

Karen, my wife and best friend, thank you for being there for me when the path is difficult; for bringing love and balance into our relationship and your ongoing patience and support of my work.

I am eternally grateful for the following remarkably talented spiritual women for their friendship, contributions, dedicated effort and help in expanding and shaping this book into its present form:

Mona Harper’s spiritual discernment helped define every element of this book. She crafted my thoughts, feelings and original writing into a book that exceeds all my expectations.

Susie Silverman’s deep insights helped me to expand this and a former book beyond its original intent.

Ann Emerson has been a constant support in my writing career. Ann has willingly and enthusiastically assisted me with her editorial skills in every book that I have written.

Virginia Sauve, with her extensive knowledge of Christian tradition, offered counsel that allowed me to include additions that would help make this book accessible to everyone.

Carole Fisher encouraged me to move forward with this book when I presented her with my first draft. I appreciate Carole’s skills as a structure editor, showing me possibilities of how the flow of this book could proceed.

My deepest appreciation goes out to Esperanca Melo for her layout, design and cover illustration.

    Special thanks to C. B.

    Prologue

Now, more than ever, in these challenging and stressful times, people are realizing they need an inner security that will offer them an ongoing peace and comfort in their lives. There is a spiritual renewal presently spreading all over the world. In response to this new energy, sincere seekers are returning to, or are, for the first time, actively pursuing a religious or spiritual path.

The committed aspirant who has selected Jesus Christ to be their spiritual guide will learn very early that the teacher/disciple relationship is, indeed, an exceedingly special one. The Savior, serving as the channel leading to God, will give His disciple unconditional love while also assuming full responsibility for his/her spiritual evolution and ultimate union with God. After a considerable period of time, the disciple will develop an overwhelming love and respect for Jesus, which in turn, will evolve into complete trust, loyalty and faith in Him.

Conversations with Christ reflects the author’s absolute dedication and devotion to his beloved teacher and includes many messages he has received from Jesus over the years. Alex possesses a keen knowledge of both the Old and New Testaments, and the illuminating wisdom and interpretations of biblical passages contained in this book are a treasure.

The life and spiritual practices of saints have always played a very important role in every devotee’s inner, soul growth. In this book, Alex writes about his favorite saints, describing their intimate relationships with God and Christ.

In all spiritual teachings, contemplation, prayer and meditation are the most important, time-honored techniques for developing one’s consciousness. In Psalms we read, Be still and know that I am God. Quieting the restless thoughts allows one to perceive the subtle spiritual vibrations within, which, in time, will lead to a deeper communion with Christ.

Throughout Conversations with Christ, Alex lovingly guides the reader step by step through various contemplation and meditation techniques. He offers encouragement along the way, and stresses the importance of daily practice of meditation so that one may gradually develop the inner life of the spirit on the journey homeward to God. M.H.

    Introduction

There was a time when nothing in the world satisfied me. Everything seemed to be a dead end, for anything new I attempted failed to give me any satisfaction. As a result, I felt completely discontented and frustrated with my life. Even my university courses did not give me the fulfillment I was expecting.

It was not until I began to explore spiritual subjects on my own that I realized I needed God and Christ in my life. Through a long series of events, I was led to a monastery in California where I became a monk. While there, I drew very close to Jesus, frequently sensing His loving and joyous presence within me completely removing the feeling of emptiness and dissatisfaction I felt before. This was the time that marked the beginning of my Conversations with Christ.

Many years after departing from the monastery, I experienced a powerful dream in which an angel appeared instructing me to continue reading the Bible, especially the New Testament. Because of the intensity of the dream, I was drawn to read the Bible again; I recognized that to do so would greatly deepen my spiritual life. A total commitment in serving God and living a Christ-centered life came with that realization.

As I began to read the Holy Scriptures, I could feel the presence of Jesus filling my being with a joy and self-assurance far beyond anything I had previously experienced. Whenever I read, contemplated and questioned a passage from the Bible or other spiritual writings, I sensed a thought transmission, which I intuited was from Him, entering my soul and giving me the meaning that He wanted me to gain from that particular passage.

Often, I would read a Bible passage I was attracted to, repeating it over and over in my mind, and Christ’s response was instantaneous, in the form of an inner realization. There were other times when I would contemplate a passage for a lengthy period, questioning and searching for its full meaning before receiving an answer. Sometimes, too, I would question the meaning of a specific spiritual truth, and, after weeks of pondering, Christ would respond through an inner intuitional message that guided me to a specific Bible passage that gave a clear answer to my question.

Whenever experiencing personal problems and painful decisions to be made, without hesitation, I would engage in a conversation with Jesus, humbly pouring out my heart to Him to receive His understanding support and guidance. Then His answer would come!

I now realize that, as a child of God, I can legitimately demand a response from Jesus. Because I know that sincere prayer demands are accepted by Him, the intense conversations that I have with Him, seeking His response, I call, Having my showdown with God. I have recommended this approach to many people and they have told me that Jesus has responded to their prayer demands as well.

After I empty my mind and heart to Jesus, I remain in silence, resting and listening
