About this ebook

Through a dark lens, this collection of poetry reflects on the inner turmoil of love, friendship, and life-threatening illness.

At time bitingly cold and cynical, at others melancholy and seeking meaning in murky experiences and our human flaws, these poems are a beautifully rhythmic inner voice of life's lowest moments.

Interspersed through contemplations on death, betrayal, and lies, is a persistent questioning hopefulness for meaning, redemption, and peace.

Would the World Mourn? - Letitia Bolton

    A letter to you

Dear fellow fearful mortals like I

    Wary of the world’s disappearance

    from your eyes and mind

Who watch the clocks in dread

As if each tick were your pulse instead

Who lay down the story before the end

    Inevitable and unenviable

    Forced into contemplation

I write to console my comrades

Who eye the unknown with distrust

    Who fear the grave

    Cynics of belief!

    I hope

    My ramblings console

For we were once all stars

And one day we’ll all be stars once more

    Our atoms, at least

    Together ‘til the end

And what if we are those ghosts in machines?

    Or consciously discrete?

Are we so arrogant as to believe

all answers ours to beck and call

    That on our puny existence

    we know it all?

That knowing that our world expanded

    Leaves us all cognitively stranded

On an island of death and despair

    Without purpose or care

    My friends, who are afraid

    Let me promise you this

It’s not how we were made

    It’s not an unheard wish

    Walk strong, proud

    Brave and true

    Dance wild, sing loud

And beside you, I will too.

    Child of Arachne

    Cobweb woven throne of mine

    Spun of tales that intertwine

An appropriate seat for a Monarch like I

    The Queen of
