I wanted to give a thank you to my mentor and fellow author Marsha Ward for her guidance and assistance in helping me become an author. She has been very patient with me throughout the whole process and my many questions.

I also wanted to thank my family and friends who have supported me all these years to help me see my dream come true, even when they had to listen to some bad story ideas or the same story over and over.

I was running as fast as I could, but the hunter was still keeping up with me. It was around midnight, but the darkness didn’t bother me. I was a creature of the darkness, a vampire. I didn’t hate who I was, but I did try and live like a human and integrate into society. I got blood from blood banks, so I wouldn’t have to hurt humans. Even though I did this, the hunters still tried to kill me.

No human could come close to keeping up with me, so I knew this hunter wasn’t human. I was guessing he was a werewolf, but I hadn’t been able to catch a strong enough scent.

I turned down an alley and swore as it came to a dead end. In my hurry I hadn’t been paying attention to exactly where I was. The walls of the buildings were too tall for me to jump up. I turned to go back down the alley, but the hunter was already there waiting for me. With my back to the wall, I got into a fighting stance. I wouldn’t go down without a fight. I couldn’t leave six-year-old Belle as an orphan.

He chuckled. Nowhere for you to run this time, Vamp. Your years of terrorizing people are over.

But I’m not like others. I live peacefully with humans, I said.

You have to drink blood to live, just like the rest of them.

Yes, but I get it peacefully.

He laughed and continued walking towards me. He held a stake in his right hand and was flipping it from end to end. The wind caught his scent and sent it towards me. He was definitely a werewolf.

You are just as supernatural as me. What makes you any different? I asked.

I can live just like a human.

"I can too. I have been for most of my life. I even have a normal
