Tap into Balance - Susan Jeffrey Busen
INTRODUCTION
We are living in a very exciting time. Scientific discoveries are constantly happening around us. Medicine and diagnostic equipment have become incredibly innovative. The rediscovery of the wisdom of ancient techniques is shifting our paradigms and beliefs. It is not only possible, but quite simple to tap into the greatest healing power that exists.
Energy vibrates at different rates. Negative emotions have very low vibratory rates. Emotions such as anger, fear, and grief cause blockages in our energy system. Not only do these blockages keep us stuck and focused on the negative, they also affect our physical health. East Asian cultures have understood this for thousands of years. These beliefs have remained outside the box of the Western medicine paradigm. Consider the possibility that you can easily access and release these negative vibrations from your body.
Each of us was born to achieve great things, and each of us has the potential to do so. Society has conditioned us for mediocrity. This book will break the cycle of mediocrity and empower you to thrive in all areas of your life.
This book will help you detach from the emotional connection to unpleasant experiences and emotions and prevent them from having negative consequences on your future. It is meant to be a practical, step-by-step guide to be used regularly. For those who are new to this concept, I believe it will be a fascinating experience.
What Are Energy Therapies, EFT, and the GetSet™ Approach?
Energy therapies are based on the fact that everything is energy at a quantum level. Every thought is energy. Every emotion is energy. With energy therapies, energy is moved, manipulated, released, or shifted to achieve a desired result. There are many modalities that utilize energy therapies. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and the GetSet™ Approach are forms of energy therapies.
EFT, or tapping, is an emotional form of acupuncture that was developed in the 1990s by Gary Craig. The subtle energies that circulate throughout the body, also known as the meridian system, have been largely ignored by Western science. As a result, Western use of energy therapies for emotional and spiritual healing has been limited. With EFT, blocks in these subtle energies to considered to be the main cause of emotional upsets.
EFT is an effective and powerful modality used to access blocked energy simply by tapping on acupressure points. It releases patterns of resistance so you can open yourself up to higher vibrational levels. Official or Gold Standard EFT does not endorse the use of tapping scripts.
The Global Emotional Tapping Scripts and Energy Therapies (GetSet™) Approach is a simple six-step process. It uses EFT to release negative emotions, followed by a powerful forgiveness step, positive affirmations, and a quick method for tracking your progress.
The GetSet™ Approach promotes the use of tapping scripts that have been carefully developed by taking into consideration any negative consequences of the verbiage used. When people write their own scripts they often use wording that can cause harm. Even well-intentioned practitioners can cause more harm if they do not carefully consider the results of the words they choose during the tapping process. When people use EFT on their own, they often do not address the core issues underlying their emotional upsets. The questions in Chapter 2 help to identify and address underlying issues. The scripts in this book have been formulated based on years of experience working with clients to determine core issues that commonly support each negative emotion or belief.
In effect, when using the GetSet™ Approach, the negative emotions are released and replaced with positive emotions. This procedure is often life changing. Most people immediately feel significant improvement. I would agree with you if you think EFT and the GetSet™ Approach sound too good to be true. If you have not yet experienced these techniques and have doubts about their effectiveness, I recommend you start with the Tapping Doesn’t Work
section in Chapter 3. It is helpful to clear that limiting belief right from the start. With proper wording in the scripts, EFT and the GetSet™ Approach are safe, effective, and easy to learn. The techniques when used as I have described cause no harm and are consistently successful.
Please note that the techniques in this book are to be considered experimental in nature, and that you must take full responsibility for your use of them. If you are feeling overwhelmed or are struggling with an intense emotional issue or clinical depression, I urge you to consult with a licensed physician or mental health professional. If you are having trouble releasing general emotional baggage using these techniques and just don’t feel as happy as you would like to be, I recommend you contact a trained EFT professional. A highly-skilled practitioner can guide you through the process and help you to identify issues that you may be unable to address on your own. CHAPTER 1
AWAKENING JOY

"Everything you’ve ever done.
Every person you’ve ever met.
Every experience you’ve ever had.
It’s all a part of who you are today.
Everything needed to be as it was.
Otherwise you wouldn’t have grown as you did and do."

Programming and Our Past
Most of us have been conditioned by our past and by others to believe that life is about making it through all of our experiences and going through the motions of the day to accomplish tasks, go to work, and pay the bills. We have gotten so wrapped up in our burdens and drama that we have allowed ourselves to become them. We are our stories. We have become robotic about our lives. We have become a society that doesn’t live. We medicate our problems, feelings, and emotions. We may be labeled with a disease because we can’t focus in the midst of chaos, cannot resolve traumatic events, or we work a swing shift. We expect others or a magic pill to make us happy. This system is failing us.
One of my jobs involves gathering patient intake information in a medical practice. Each patient is required to answer the question, Are you depressed?
It is disturbing to me that so many people answer yes
to this question. How is it possible that we accept this? How can so many people be struggling to enjoy their life? Why is it that so many people feel helpless and even hopeless? What can be done to truly change this? I don’t believe medication is the answer. I know the methods I teach in this book will help people to find happiness in their lives. I have helped thousands of people release their baggage. We must first heal our own lives.

We are conditioned to perceive things, formulate our beliefs, and act based on our programming. Water runs downhill and follows the path of least resistance. We tend to follow the path of least resistance with our choices. We do what is easiest and make choices based on what we know from our previous experiences. It is almost always easiest to avoid noticing or confronting our emotional or energetic baggage. We develop patterns which keep us stuck and prevent us from living our truth. Truth is universal, and life wants to be lived from a place of truth.
It is important to realize that everyone’s experience and interpretations of the same event are different. It is all about our reaction to the experience, how we process the experience, and any emotional wounds that are created as a result.
Regardless of the experiences we have had, we make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same.
We must keep in mind that all of our limits are self-imposed. You cannot achieve anything until you believe you can. If you believe you aren’t capable, you will not be capable.

If you are going to doubt anything about yourself, doubt your limitations. Your limitations are based on your beliefs that you formed as a result of your programming. A belief is only a consistent thought pattern. Your thoughts and beliefs can easily be changed. Changing your beliefs and your vibration will change your reality. It will change what you attract into your life. Changing any one of these creates a cascading effect which changes everything.
Every cell in our body responds energetically to every word we hear and thought we think. Every thought and belief we create is an affirmation. It can be positive or negative.
We all carry residual pain from our past. We create coping strategies to protect ourselves from our past hurts. Our subconscious mind helps protect the secrets that we hide from ourselves. Consciously, our mind knows nothing but the past. It makes its decisions based on how we responded to past experiences, and it imagines the future will be just like the past. If we survived an experience, the way we responded to that experience will be remembered at both a cognitive and a cellular level. The energy of the emotions attached to experiences can cause imbalances in our energy system. All of our experiences, no matter how seemingly insignificant, leave a lifelong imprint on us.
Just because we have a thought or a belief, it does not mean that it is real. Many of our thoughts are not based in reality. Often, many of our emotional upsets or crises are based on our own illusions. We create our own destructive patterns in areas where we have emotional trauma, doubts, or fears. We often create physical symptoms in our bodies or circumstances in our lives that helps us to avoid doing something that we are not at peace with. We control the reality that we experience based on what we believe.
Many of our first traumas, let-downs, and feelings of inferiority happened when we were young children. Our wounds form our identity. While we have all grown, matured, and learned over the years, our responses are often based on the coping strategies that we formed as a result of our childhood and past experiences. Over time, these coping strategies become our baggage and form our dark side. We must go back through the wounds to determine who we really are.
We run from our past as if it were chasing us. All of the unwanted events in your life were necessary. You may not yet know why you needed them to get you where you are. All of your past experiences, regardless of how difficult they may have been, were orchestrated in perfect accordance to prepare you for where you are right now. They have made you who you are today. Don’t beat yourself up if you come to realize that you have not been living the life you were created to live, experiencing the tremendous joy that you could be experiencing, or that you have been creating unnecessary struggles and conflict in your life and that of others. You are always in the right place. Some day when you look back over your life all of the events will make sense. Once you come to these realizations, you will understand that if you continue to live your life in the same manner, you will get the same result.

It’s not too late at all. You just don’t yet know what you are capable of.
—Mahatma Gandhi

You cannot start the next chapter of your life if you keep rereading the old ones. There is nothing you can do to change your past. You have no control over your past. All you can do is live in the present. In order to live a fulfilling life, you must let go of the emotional connection to the past and the negative energetic patterns you have created. What you do now will affect every aspect of your future. Do not waste your current time worrying about the future. The future does not exist.
We all need to stop living in the past and worrying about the future. During the process described in this book, you will be asked to visit your past and to evaluate experiences that were painful in order to identify and release the negative emotions, beliefs, and patterns that resulted from those experiences. You can then look at the wounds objectively and determine what they have to teach you. You will also be asked to look to your future to see what you want and what might be stopping you from getting there. Looking briefly into your past and ahead to your future will be done to clear the baggage that is keeping you from experiencing true joy in your life. This is the only reason we are going there in this book. The only place you will find true happiness is in the present. True peace and freedom come from within.

Fear stops us from making progress and keeps us stuck. We often become a prisoner of our past. When we live our life from a place of fear, we see our circumstances as threatening and everything seems to have conditions attached. Many of us spend more time and exert more effort and energy to sabotage our own success and happiness than we do to create
