    Introduction

This study examines two important patterns in the book of Revelation which I hope helps all who consider this amazing book of prophecy.

There are mistakes in this presentation, not by intention, but out of ignorance. I am still and always will be learning. It has been difficult to put aside what I have inherited in order to see from a fresh perspective.

    Revelation 4:5 (WEY)

Out from the throne there came flashes of

lightning, and voices, and peals of thunder...

    Revelation 8:5 (WEY)

So the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and flung it to the earth; and there followed peals of

thunder, and voices, and flashes of lightning,

    and an earthquake.

    Revelation 11:19 (WEY)

Then the doors of God's sanctuary in Heaven were opened, and the Ark, in which His Covenant was, was seen in His sanctuary; and there came flashes of

lightning, and voices, and peals of thunder,

and an earthquake, and heavy hail.

    Revelation 16:18, 21 (WEY)

Flashes of lightning followed, and voices, and peals of thunder,

and an earthquake more dreadful than there had ever been since there was a man upon the earth—so terrible was it, and so great… And heavy hail, that seemed to be a talent in weight, fell from the sky upon the people; and they spoke evil of God on account of the plague of the hail—because the plague of it was exceedingly severe.

    Chapter One

    THE SPIRITUAL MEANING OF NUMBERS

It should come as no surprise that numbers in the Bible have spiritual significance. After all, they are a universal language that transcends all cultural boundaries.

In scripture, one of the most remarkable numbers is seven. In his book, Biblical Mathematics – Keys to Scripture Numerics, Ed F. Vallowe wrote, Seven is used over 700 times in the Bible. It is used 54 times in the Book of Revelation. In his book, The Biblical Meaning of Numbers from One to Forty, Dr. Stephen Jones wrote the following about its spiritual meaning.

    Seven (zayin)

    Completion, Spiritual Perfection

Zayin is a weapon in Hebrew. The perfect weapon is the Sword of the Spirit, by which spiritual warfare is accomplished, for "the weapons of our warfare are not carnal" (2 Cor. 10:4).

Seven is the biblical number of completion and spiritual perfection. As such, Psalm 7 speaks of the two floods by which the earth is cleansed and brought to the perfect order of the Kingdom.

Seven days complete a Sabbath cycle. In Rev. 10:7 the mystery of God is finished when the seventh angel blows his trumpet. In Rev. 16:7 it is done when the seventh angel pours out the seventh vial into the air. It took seven days to consecrate Aaron and his sons to the priesthood (Lev. 8:31-35) before emerging from the tabernacle on the eighth day. Joshua and the Israelite army had to march around Jericho seven days (Joshua 6:15) before the city fell.

In agreement with Vallowe and Jones, E.W. Bullinger wrote the following in his book, Number in Scripture – Its Supernatural Design and Spiritual Significance.

But now turning to the number Seven, we must first consider the meaning of the word.

In the Hebrew, seven is שֶׁבַע (shevah). It is from the root שָׁבַע (savah), to be full or satisfied, have enough of. Hence the meaning of the word seven is dominated by this root, for on the seventh day God rested from the work of Creation. It was full and complete, and good and perfect. Nothing could be added to it or taken from it without marring it. Hence the word שָׁבַת (Shavath), to cease, desist, rest, and שַׁבָּת Shabbath, Sabbath, or day of rest. This root runs through various languages; e.g., Sanscrit, saptan; Zend., hapta; Greek, epta (hepta); Latin, septem. All these preserve the t, which in the Semitic and Teutonic languages is
