The book of Revelation is the revelation of Jesus Christ. It also contains prophecy from God of things to come, as well as letters to the 7 churches in Asia Minor (modern Turkey). John was the only surviving Apostle of the original 12 (Luke 6:12-16), hence he was required to authenticate the vision of Jesus. Only someone who knew Jesus personally would be able to recognise Him in His current form.
What does Jesus look like?
When John envisions Jesus, he falls at His feet and worships Him in reverence.
