    The Results of Disobedience

    Text: Daniel 1: 1-7

    Memory Verse1 Sam 2:30

    Introduction

    Jehoiakim, the king of Judah lost his throne and brought shame upon Israel and the God of Israel. Even God fought against him and handed him over to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon. However, it was the entire nation that disobeyed God.

    In this study, we want to look at the results of the disobedience of Israel.

    The city was destroyed: Jerusalem, the city of David which God preserved for several years was destroyed. This city was the glory and fortress of Israel. And it was destroyed because of disobedience – when people disobey God, things that are precious to them would be destroyed by the enemy. For instance, when a believer fails to pay tithe, his properties and other things precious to him, would be lost.

    Their God was humiliated: The temple of God in Jerusalem was destroyed and the precious items there – dedicated unto God by all the great kings of Israel, were all carried away to the temple of demons in Babylon. It is normal that when a people are defeated by their enemies, the temple of their god would be vandalised.  The implication of this is that
