    In high school

    Dillon was a slacker stoner with no ambition or plans for his future. He liked to ditch class as much as he could and drink and smoke his life away. No one was around to set him straight. His mother worked long hours so that they could keep their two-bedroom apartment, which was not very big at all. Dillon's father was in prison for possession and carrying an unregistered firearm. Dillon did not care where his life was going and didn't plan on his future. He didn't see any reason why, except for when he laid eyes on Cali, a beautiful red-haired, fair skinned, girl with gorgeous big - blue eyes, as bright as the summer sky. Dillon was in love with Cali, however, he knew she was out of his league. Aside from her beauty, she was also smart and thrived to do her best in school so that she could leave their small close minded community and move to the big city, where more opportunities await. While Dillon had no drive to better himself, Cali fought and pushed to get the best grades she could. Cali had dreams and would not stop until she accomplished them, while Dillon only cared about what he was going to do later that day; smoke. or drink. Even though Dillon had strong feelings for Cali, he never wanted to speak to her. He felt he would bring her down and ruin her life if they ever started a relationship. Dillon would wind up expelled from high school and transferred to continuation for failing grades. Unknowingly, Cali actually inspired Dillon to do better. Dillon had a fondness for writing and would, often times, write short stories instead of paying attention to the lecture his teacher would be providing the class. At one time,
