About this ebook

If you were given one wish, a chance to change a single event from your past, present, or future, would you?

When Dylan arrives home to reconcile with her father before the Grim Reaper comes to sweep him away, she is given that exact opportunity. But the gift of one wish doesn’t come without a clear warning: “Everything in this life has a consequence. What you choose today could alter what might already be.”

With so many options to choose from, Dylan has to do some major soul searching and only has three months to decide. Should she take the risk of a wish that might not actually bring her happiness or leave her life in the hands of fate?

    ~DEDICATION~

To Robin Wright, a friend who shares my belief in all things magical and inspired me to put the pen to paper allowing myself to be discovered.

    Chapter One

Planes make me nervous. The little old lady settled into in the aisle seat beside Dylan. I’ve never been a fan of flying, but there’s someone who needs me right now, and when duty calls, I can’t refuse.

Dylan gave a weak smile and looked out the window. She didn’t feel much like talking, but had a good idea the woman wouldn’t give up on sharing a conversation with her. As the plane moved, Dylan hugged herself tight and stared down at the tarmac. She didn’t relax until the aircraft took flight and sped through the early morning clouds.

The little old lady hadn’t spoken since she first sat down, and Dylan couldn’t help but blame herself for the silence. She was never brought up to be rude to anyone, and the ill feeling weaving its way into her stomach was her punishment for dismissing the lady. She twisted around to face her, and that’s when she noticed the dress the woman wore.

Are you a fan of D. Davis Designs? Dylan was curious what enticed people to buy pieces from her clothing line. It intrigued her to learn what drew them to a particular item. The woman sitting beside her was not someone in D. Davis Designs’ average customer age group demographic, and she found that detail even more interesting.

Yes, I have an entire wardrobe full of pieces from her new fall line. The woman grinned. I follow her work closely. I’m quite a fan of her style.

Dylan tried to refrain from cracking a smile. How do you know D. Davis is a woman?

Young lady, a man could never create something that fits so perfectly on a woman’s frame. They can try, but a woman knows the female body well. She held out her hand. My name is Fey.

Dylan smirked. Well, Fey, on behalf of D. Davis Designs, I’d like to extend a personal thank you for buying my clothing line. She shook her hand with a gentle grace.

You’re Dylan Davis? Well, I’ll be. Fey laughed, a sweet harmonic sound. I’m delighted to meet you.

They spent the remainder of the flight conversing about fashion, something Dylan never expected them to have in common when the elderly woman first sat down, and Fey shared how she’d been a model in her younger years. She showed Dylan a picture of herself at twenty, and Dylan understood why she’d been a model—the woman was stunning. Though her skin was now full of wrinkles and age lines creased her face, Fey was still beautiful, and her sapphire eyes sparkled when she spoke.

They exited the plane together, and before Fey departed to grab her luggage, Dylan felt the strong urge to hug her.

It was lovely meeting you, Fey. Dylan bent down and squeezed her newfound friend. Thanks for your address. I’ll be sure you get an invitation to the next show.

Oh, I’ll be there. Fey’s mouth curved into a grin. Don’t you worry.

The older woman picked up a bright pink bag from the conveyer. As she hurried to the airport exit, she glanced over her shoulder and smiled. Outside, she flagged down a cab, and in the midday sun, Fey’s skin seemed to sparkle. Grabbing her own bag, Dylan laughed while she imagined the old woman covering herself in glitter-filled lotion.

Dylan slid behind the wheel of her
